How do you get Hollow Base Wadcutter bullets to feed automatically with the lighter, hollow base down?

:) :)

That's why I'm asking. Was pulling reversed hollow base wad cutters from some old 38spl commercial ammo tonight.
Muttered a few choice words too.

Update.
These were rounds that primer was hit but did not fire. Turned out there was no powder in the cases. About ten of them.

The bullet falls in a trough heavy end down and is turned over by a 180 degree tunnel before it falls into the case. Much like washed bottles are turned over before filling.

I have made lots of backwards HBWC loads. They don't typically expand at all in my testing. They do apparently tumble though as evident by the flattening of one side. Loaded forward or backward HBWC bullets are quite effective for the modest ballistics they typically produce.

Expansion depends on the lead hardness. Soft lead expands well.

This is a Campro plated wadcutter - before and after.

In my opinion, it expanded...

As I said, good raccoon medicine.

Shot out of a rifle I'd imagine, I never said they wouldn't expand. I never saw them perform like that but I wasn't shooting anything that bleeds. All my testing with the same bullets was from revolvers. Never pushed them harder than 900fps. It's something I am going to explore further but many other things are up first.

I don't recall if that Campro was shot in a 357 or a 38, so I loaded a Speer HBWC (backwards) in a 38 Spl case with a stiff load of 231 and shot it in a 2" snubbie at some water jugs. The bullet mushroomed to 0.700 with about 6" of penetration.

It has been my experience that they do not exit raccoons caught in a trap.

i have tested these at 25 yards and a few have tumbled.
