Half are sold as wadcutters. Half are sold as big hollow points...
I have made lots of backwards HBWC loads. They don't typically expand at all in my testing. They do apparently tumble though as evident by the flattening of one side. Loaded forward or backward HBWC bullets are quite effective for the modest ballistics they typically produce.
Expansion depends on the lead hardness. Soft lead expands well.
