REMINGTON 700 - One of the Best All Around Rifles?

“My bolt fell off, my extractor fouled. The safety froze and the wolves all howled. I should have packed a Winchester like Grandpa said. Maybe that bear wouldn’t have chewed on my head. Life’s lessons learned, life’s lessons learned.”

Remington Country...music.

Chuck you never fail to bring the LOLs'...couldn't have a classic ####show thread without you. You truly are a man of many talents and are owed a beer!

I just watched a video of a world record bear in Alaska taken with a bow... one shot at 34 yards and the bear did not know they were there...

The guides back up rifle was a Remington 700 with the floor plate taped to the stock with duct tape...

neat video if you want to watch it... broken link here :> h ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfXRftiIDHk

Are you sure the guy with the bow wasn’t backing up the guy with the junky Remington?

Ha,,, at least it's warm enough today for us Remington owners to go hunting now that our triggers won't freezer up... Ha...

Be careful cycling your bolts folks,,, I heard roumers on this thread that the bolts could pop out of the rifle and knock you in the head...

Oh Boy... LOL

after you shoot you cycle your bolt to remove the brass and action to feed the next round and this is where the brass meet the new cartridge and do a mess up.

Sounds like a short stroke, starting the bolt forward before it gets all the way back. Maybe I'm misinterpreting though. Or is the next cartridge not staying in the magazine after one is stripped out? Thanks

... when it is happening a few times in 3 seasons with the same model i can t tell if the error is coming from the shooter or if there is a problem with the action.

In order to solve a problem you need to be able to duplicate the problem in the shop... work on that...

A Short Stroke is a Shooter Error..

Used to think it was nearly impossible for a well practiced hand. Even bought and briefly carried a Sako Forest takedown 9.3x62, until I double fed it with a bolt stutter doing speed shooting tipping close blocks for dangerous game practice. Casually target shooting and run of the mill hunting I’d never done it in thousands of rounds, put myself in a hurry and I found out you can lock that sucker up really well. If I’m going to carry a bolt action around anything dangerous it was from then out controlled round feed. We all use our guns differently and I believe for many a 700 could be the perfect tool, it’s not for what I do however.

Other than wearing women’s clothing while hunting, it’s easy to spot a lefty shooting a model 700.
All good in my books. Especially the KS Mountain rifle.

Free work isn’t always free, hence the pink.

I will never be the right hand of god that’s for sure.
