My favourite author.
you re not alone and not only for his hunting adventures.
Not to forget Hem's book length memoir "The Green Hills Of Africa" (I have a first edition, first printing!- but it's unfortunately battered*) and his short stories "The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber" and "The Snows Of Kilimanjaro." And there's a collection of his related works titled "Hemmingway On Hunting."
Edit: I guess I should also say "affordably battered."Also, I've long intended to get a sort of memoir sort of by his brother via his brother's daughter titled "Hunting With Hemmingway."
Has the Tommy gun, I assume this photo is from his real-life U Boat hunting period out in the Gulf Stream in his boat Pilar (as fictionalized in the above-quoted Islands In The Stream).
And trying to find a usable quote from that instantly brought up another book I now have to get, dammit. "The Hemingway Patrols: Ernest Hemingway and His Hunt for U-Boats" https://www.amazon.com/Hemingway-Patrols-Ernest-Hunt-U-Boats/dp/1416597875
Yeah.. But.. but. but.. Only if Hemingway had a .375 Ruger![]()

Not to be macabre, but what happened to the gun he shot himself with?
WOW.. Time for a chill pill guy..
If you meet an *sshole in the morning, you met an *sshole. If you meet them all day long, you're the *sshole.
Entertain us...go to CGN poll section and get the 'New King' put to the test. Other than that, maybe take it on down the road...we are talking literature and history. The grade school " My dad can beat up your dad !" attitude about the ' New King ' is quite juvenile IMO.
Back to the topic at hand.
The Short Happy Life of Francis M is one of my favorites. But even though I love Papa's work, it shows a picture of the past...not always a good one though. A tad racist and misogynistic old Papa was...as was my father. A product of their times, but while the Snowflakes seem to abound these days...Papa's generation...their time has long gone.
Rose Colored Glasses are needed to really enjoy his work.
Any who argue need to really read all of his works.

I recall reading that the family had it destroyed by a local machine shop by cutting it up and burying it.
