New 303 Brit stalking rifle

I don't know what the idea is here, a british style stalking rifle on an american action?

I like the rail though, its a neat idea.

I'll stick to my number one in .303 brit, a cartridge I chose for this exact reason. Closer to the real deal, even if it also "american"

Although I cannot claim to be an expert on, well, anything, I think I could struggle along with on of the OP rifles. In .303 British, almost any single shot would tickle my fancy.

I regret not scooping one of the Baikal single shot rifles in 7.62x54R. That is another old cartridge that deserves some attention. Break action and falling block actions help to make a rifle manageable and yet maintain a decent length barrel.

I've been looking for a Baikal in 7.62x54R for quite some time , no luck . It's a really good old cartridge that doesn't get the respect it deserves . And your right , single shots make for very handy rifles without sacrificing barrel length .
I recently gave a Savage 219 in 30/30 to an old friend , no regrets , but I definitely need something to fill the void , a Baikal would do nicely .

I picked one up in 7.62x39mm. It's really nice, and it was cheap........like borscht.

I tested a bunch of different surplus military loads through it, and it was fairly accurate too. Some Czech M43 from the 80's grouped the best.

I must say though, I'd like it if there had been an option for .303 British too.

What can we do though, it's a Russian gun. So we got 7.62x54R.

I got my 7.62x39mm Baikal from them, and they had the 7.62x54R available then too.

If they don't have them now, I'm sure that they'd import more if there's enough interest.

Nice concept but I'd like it better with a British style action like Farquharson or Martini copy as opposed to the Winchester copy.

Seems to work. I understand that Winchester 1895s and Savage 99s were both chambered for .303 Brit. Made sense for export I suppose. Anglia2 was telling me quite a few 1885s were chambered in large things for DG and wouldn't surprise me if there were runs of the 1885 in .303 back in the day.

I believe the Savage 99 was only made in 303 savage not 303 Brit also the winchester 95 in 303 brit especially in the carbine version was extremely popular in Canada and was used by many a hunter in the northern areas

Nice rifle, but the deop at comb does not look particularly scope friendly... I think I would just prefer a No.1-A in .303 Brit.

That's because we are allowed in the coyote woods in June July and August to hunt. Yes it is camo flint, PA Pellet, it came that way and stainless as well. Open are great stalkers.

You are , unfortunately , correct . When it comes to Baikals , what we have , is all we'll have , unless the government lifts the embargo . Somehow , I don't think the sock puppet , JT , is about to do that anytime soon .

My single shot stalking rifle isn't a 303 but a 6.5 X 53R but is a fast handling rifle
The other is a little heavier as it is 500

Hey! What happened to the No.1-A 6.5X55???

Still have it, hunted with it for a couple days and shot a big mule deer ( 160 Hornady RN ) I also have a stainless T3X chambered the same that gets more use because I can treat it rough.
