Picking on a conservation organization to further a pro gun online petition is a new low for gun owners in this country imo. A reality check for me, just because you own a gun, doesn’t make you reasonable to support.
Are some gun owners looking for someone to blame considering there are only 160k signatures on an e-petition that is supposedly representing over 2.2million licensed gun owners?

DU is basically saying we support the building and maintaining of more roads and the government is talking about banning cars. Won't it be wonderful to have these beautiful well maintained roads to drive on? we can make that happen if you give us money. Nice roads are pointless if cars are banned
DU's purpose in its own words is to provide more ducks for AMERICAN hunters, they just use Canada to do it
Wetlands are hugely important whether or not hunting continues on.

Let’s be clear: DUC was founded by hunters. Waterfowl numbers were plummeting, and they organized around a clear goal: to conserve and restore Canadian habitat, where much of North America’s waterfowl breed.
Our focus and commitment is the same today. We’re proud of our role—to conserve the habitat that waterfowl and wildlife need to thrive. Our conservation success is our contribution to the hunting community and can’t be overstated. No other organization comes close to conserving as much Canadian wetland habitat as DUC. And today, waterfowl populations are strong.

The current firearms issue is a milestone in the ongoing debate about Canada’s relationship with firearms. We trust Canadians will exercise their individual rights as they see fit. For our part, we’ll continue to be guided by our mission: to ensure the habitats that support waterfowl, wildlife and people, are here for future generations.
Thank you to all who support conservation in Canada. We invite you to contact us with your questions by emailing communications@ducks.ca.
Exercise your individual rights, the ones you don't have, and don't expect any help from us. To me, they are speaking with a forked tongue and the overall message is to F-off and not bother them. OK then.
And their statement about being one of the foremost conservation forced in Canada? No sorry that is us, the people paying for it here through licencing fees that fund provincial and federal enforcement and so forth.
What the heck will DU do once guns are banned and ducks overpopulate and start destroying the very wetlands they are trying to save. Just have to look at the mess the cormorants are doing to the eco system.

I see some budding politicians are posting here. A bit disappointing.
How Important are your firearms to you?
The BC Wildlife Federation Firearms and Recreational Sports Shooting Committees are asking you to stand up for your firearm rights. The committees have outlined several steps you can take to let Canadian Members of Parliament know why you don’t support firearms bans.
The minority federal government has promised to prohibit and confiscate semi-automatic long guns. Firearms Committee Chair Gary Mauser, calls the buyback plan a “multi-billion-dollar boondoggle.”
How can you take action?
Use the BCWF template letter below and email Minister Blair, your MP, and opposition critics.
Letters are more powerful if you customize them with the reasons why your access to firearms is essential to your lifestyle and values. You can edit the letter below and customize it to your own experience.
We encourage our members to not just submit this electronic form, but to also print it out and mail it to your representatives. When addressing your own letter to the Minister please keep in mind:
Address Minister Blair with his official title – The Hon. Bill Blair, MP, Public Safety Minister
No postage is required for mailing MPs or Senators.
The address for MPs is House of Commons, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A6

And... so what? It’s not like they’re exporting waterfowl and leaving us with less. Or totally ignoring the fact Canadians hunt the preserves too. Does it really matter when in the end, it’s still conservation and wetland preservation.
Would you rather see less wildlife and wetlands, just to spite our neighbours? I’m happy to accept any benefits and forward progress on conservation.
Gun owners frustrate me admittedly with our narrow-mindedness and bickering. It seems many of us only see the world in black and white, and are incapable of considering compromises for the better. It’s a hard position one way or the other, and expected of everyone. The truth is life’s grey.
I read very little sinister in that, I read that they’re focusing on their mandate and declining to comment on other matters. Which is entirely reasonable. As for licence fees supporting conservation it isn’t nearly enough, and we need organizations like Ducks. Here in BC I’ve been advocating for far higher licence fees, especially for non-residents, and for all that funding to go directly to conservation not general revenue. Also, so long as wildlife is in decline country wide as it is in Canada, we need every friend of wildlife we can get.
i agree with you Angus except the fact that the president of DU is sitting on a committee politically involved ....
