Ducks Unlimited vs angry gunowners

I am mightily saddened by black gunners slagging habitat conservation. Enjoy having your guns seized if you push hunters away and lose mass support.

But I am sure your not saddened or aware of some hunters throwing black rifle owners under the bus during Lieberal consultations, prior to Bill C71.
Stating that "nobody needs those to hunt".

Yet here you are.

And their not slagging "habitat conservation" don't get it twisted.

The funny thing is you think they will stop at Black gun owners. Their end goal is no guns in civilian hands and it will not be long before they push for major hunting restrictions. No need to have hunting if your true goal is habitat conservation. DUC are no friend of land owners or gun owners, to me they are an NGO that pushes a government agenda. Everyone i know in this area of Ontario wants them no where near their land.

I would have thought the gun-owners in Ontario would be more concerned with the Liberal population expansion rather than DUC?

No need to have doubt. Im a NRA member here too.
I let my DUC membership lapse, but that's going to change.

Well then we have to get you back state side to get you back on track or rebooted :) since you have clearly lost your way up here based on your posts
It happens. I see it in my brothers all the time when they spend too much time in canada
Nice wolf however but I like the black hat the best :)
Cheers

I will delete my comment and I apologize to you directly.
Thats a great pic.

No one here is suggesting that land conservation isnt a valuable and worthwhile cause in its own right.
Regardless of climate change or not I bet a lot of us feel that humanity in general has come far short of responsible land stewardship and that can be laid at a lot of different feet.
Its disgusting when you are driving through the wilderness and find some ###### has decided to just dump all his/her/its #### there.

In any case, I wouldnt act directly against DU but will actively throw my support behind groups that choose to link the ownership of firearms with conservation.

To Scotts point, it really is the liberals who are the enemy, they know this is a divide and part of my frustration is sometimes it feels like people who may not be as "radical" as I am on the gun issue wont stand up and say enough is enough. You know what, if the liberals are going to try that then I will be a part of the battle and treat a semi auto ban like a break action ban. They know they can compartmentalize the battle and unfortunately it's true. We dont come together as a single mass.

So my apologies... I think DU will be fine but our fate is yet to be determined....

I’m a hunter and am completely disgusted with DU. Nobody is slagging conservation, they are slagging an organization that asks gun owners to support them and at the same time refuses to support gun owners.

Gunowners are passionate people, often referred to as Nutz. But now I realize that it has a more literal meaning.

I guess passion could look nutz to someone who can't see the larger picture. Funny how opinion expression leads to personal attack on someone's mental health because it differs from yours.

Larger picture.
I am disgusted with Canada. 5 competing federal political parties, multiple competing pro-gun groups. I'm sad but at least I see it coming.

Grass is greener situation for sure.

I don't have an issue because they are a wetland conservation group not a pro gun lobby group. They really had no business being dragged into this e-mess in the first place.

As soon as their president and board member took a seat on the advisory council they became a defacto lobby group either for or against guns. If they did not want to be in this position or now wish to get out of this position all they have to do is have Couch quit the board. They won't do that and that is what this is all about. If you cannot see this you are either blind, mentally challenged or just being disingenuous about this whole thread.

He is there as an individual, not representing DUC.

Anyone else on the CFAC that you would look to as possibly pro-hunting or pro-gun?
My feeling is that we're lucky to see a sportsman there. Especially one that is as impactful as Couch.

guns and politics are bounded or tied for many reasons. so whoever telling they do not want to be part of it but got a seat because they seems to represent gun owners may lead to confusion. they stand on the wrong side because it became public.

when i lived in saguenay everybody was part of DUC up to the time DUC opposed to hunt snow geese in the spring, then some locals created there local protection area.
the banquet from the local culb of sauvaginiers was better than any DUCS banquet in that area: hunters for hunters.

i ve seen that in the Ottaouais too if you look on the ottawa river where DUC has some wet lands now conservation around Turso there is some people very not happy about it ...

conservation has to be explained: we want your money and your time but in exchange we wont support hunting and gun owners ... plain and simple.

if the truth is told the money will speak.

The NFA has 80,000(?) members, DUC has 120,000.
The NRA has 5 million members and Ducks Unlimited USA has 700,000 members
Maybe Canada prefers conservation groups over gun groups, compared to the USA?

You are in Alberta IMO no better place to live PERIOD
Cheers
You got that right! Alberta has been home since 1977, and never looked back to my place of origin. It’s a province with traditional customs, heritage where a person earns their living..........very little handouts from taxpayers, unlike other socialist provinces east of Manitoba.

well there is some members just here that were wrongly thinking DUC was doing more than just conservation based on the US model. it is an eye opener.

And surely that has nothing to do with the current round of proposed Gun bans?
Maybe if those numbers were reversed in Canada and more people joined the fight, knowing they were appeasing the crocodile in the hopes they will be eaten last, then things would change?

Maybe Jim?
