Speaking of bears, I mean short range thumpers .........
My Dad used this short range thumper to thump this bear that needed thumping as it was raiding our camp.

Swiss 1889 converted to 30-30?
My first bear! Shot with a short range thumper of course. Actually my first game animal ever. This was about 20 years ago.

I have no idea what that rifle was. That was way before me. The only rifle I ever saw my Dad own was a short range thumper Jungle Carbine.
Great photo SuperCub, any idea of the year it was taken?

I saw a few of those 30-30s in Ontario deer camps about fifty years ago.

Not an action one would want to hot rod loads in, but they make for a good woods gun.
You weren't worried about the driver on a pass-through?
Dad wasn't a handloader. He was pretty frugal, thus his interest for surplus rifles.
I'm pretty sure he didn't buy more than 1/2 dozen boxes on factory rifle ammo in his life.
