How long does a S&W 629 last? Let's find out! 13K+ now

Thanks for clearing that up. I want a blued 29! Still learning my smith and wesson ins and outs.

No problem, now that I know for certain what caused my 29-10 to fail, I now have no reservations about recommending any version. The newer ones with the built in lock that has yet to cause any problems and the "inferior" MIM parts seem to stand up just fine with a bit of maintenance, Loctite and epoxy.

17656 rds

100 at 22.0 grains of Vectan BA6-1/2 and sketchy Federal brass, 50 (44 Starline, 6 Federal) at 22.0 of Vectan and 50 Starline with 23.7 grains of W-296. All CCI300 primed and 240 grain Campro and Berrys bullets.
Scrapped 21 pieces of well used Federal, 27 pieces are now marked as possible last time and 57 remaining pieces show no signs of failing yet. So out of ~650, 600 of them failed within 30 re-uses. I'm going have to frame the last surviving piece.

Updates or not, I have heard a few tales regarding failures and warranty issues. I am glad that I bought my GP100; it was either the S & W or the Ruger; a Ruger came along first. No regrets, and like the OP 0 factory loads since new; maybe up to 3000 right now.

I'll surmise that the OP couldn't kill the Smith before his wallet cried mercy. Rugers are overbuilt and are great guns, I own them, but there is nothing wrong with Smiths generally speaking. Before Trudeau, you could pass the Smith's down to your kids when you're gone and they would likely be able to do the same with their kids.
