Since all the old build threads have been closed, I think it'd be a good idea to revive them (and possibly sticky them) so that we can all share our builds again.
I got a WK180C in a trade and I've done some light modding to it. My goal was to make a handy and practical plinker without adding much bulk or weight to the rifle overall. Here's what I've done so far:
- Holosun 403 Red dot
- Magpul MBUS sights (mostly for weight)
- Magpul MOE pistol grip, trimmed to fit
- Magpul MLOK Rail Cover Type 2
- HEK 3D Printed brass deflector / cover
- O rings on the upper receiver lug to take out wobble.
You may have noticed that the factory handguard looks slightly different. I never liked the look of it so I took a dremel and a file and removed the lower 'lip' of the handguard to square off the profile. It took about a half hour of work, going slowly. I wasn't super concerned about making it look pretty, since I know that cheap replacements are available. After the material was removed, I smoothed out the rough edges with a file, chamfered the corners and did a final pass with some sandpaper before hitting it with some black spraypaint. To my eyes it looks much better, and since the removed material didn't serve any purpose, it was a purely cosmetic change.
Hopefully this thread takes off and we can start to see builds from other WK and MCR owners again
