Garand prices. Stable, Rising, or Dropping?

Has the talk about future Liberal gun bans, especially semi-autos, affected prices of the M1 Garand, or the SVT-40 for that matter?

I did a very brief scan on asking prices, and the prices seem to be stable to slight increased prices over the last year.

It seems that there is still a market for collectible semi-automatic firearms as of late... That might change, but it’s encouraging to see that people are not panic selling. Personally, I believe that the Garand is not the main target of the Libs. A full scale ban on all semi-automatic firearms will be more challenging than the Libs once thought (and I think they’ve realized that). Their plan certainly isn’t dead on the vine, but it may get scaled back. As long as it’s not black and magazine fed, it might get left alone? Who knows... at the end of the day, we’re all just speculating at this point.

I do believe that petition was noticed though... specifically the signatures from Ontario residents.
 
The Garand has always seemed to be off the list of "evil ones" - no "offensive" features like a pistol grip, a synthetic stock or exterior magazine.:rolleyes:

I'd say that they are holding their own in value and rising somewhat, altho there are some pretty optimistic asking prices on the EE.;)

And yes, the Liberals seem to notice blow back from vote rich Ontario; not so much from the great unwashed in western Canada.:sok2

With all the crap that has happened recently (Rail blockades, Teck Frontier withdrawal, Covid-19, stock market and oil slump, etc), I suspect the pesky Libs might not want to further irritate people, esp out west.

Or, maybe they will think another round of gun control is the perfect distraction...
 
Is $2000 - $2200 for a nice condition one reasonable?

~ $1800 for a bit rough, but generally decent one?

~$1500 for a mixed parts (Italian receiver, US parts), and aftermarket plastic stock?

This I can agree with regarding pricing. I will add these prices are with a VG+ to mint bore and VG++ to new/re parkerized.

While I know "logic" has no part to play in gun-control, it's more than a bit rich for the Garand to be a "safe" semi-automatic milsurp while the SKS is widely-regarded as being among the most desired of gun-control targets?... :yingyang:
 
John Garand is originally from Saint-Rémi, Quebec. That will keep you off the evil list.

A site sponsor is selling a Garand for $2,600 + taxes right now, in NRA good condition. TradeEx had a bunch for $2,200 but they are all gone now. This tells me the price is rising, whether we agree or not.

The Garand sure gets a lot of attention at the range. We reload because it's so much fun you can't shoot just one clip.
