Will there be a Component shortage?

I bought a lot of powder, primers and bullets and brass over the last 18mos, so, pretty decent shape for the next 3-4 yrs at least. Glad I did, seeing as our dollar tanked and the buy cycle is on again in the US. I was buying it for retirement and not having to have continual expenses and avoiding the issues of another bad gov't down south, looks like that will have been the right thought line for the next year or two at least. Dollar may come back a hair next year, but, I'm not holding my breath on that. Thinking ahead appears to have been the right thing to do. The dollar will certainly become an issue on pricing over the next while and shops may be reluctant to buy a lot of stock for the forseeable future, even if they can get it.

I think i might run out of projectiles first, wishing I had some casting equipment now, might actually have the time to do it!

"If you need to start stocking up when the pandemic has already started, it's too late."

Most of us have been here before. Possibly some newcomers to the sport and people under 20 yo might be surprised, but the rest of us shouldn't be.

If folks didn't learn to put extra up with the last half-dozen shortage we've lived through, then nothing will make an impression... I've been stocking up for 30+ years and if they quit selling ammo and components today, well - I've got mine...

It is a factory with people in close contact making something not required right now . There is unnecessary risk and for what a product not required.
One of their top three competitors remington closed didnot they not

Remington is one of Hornady's top rivals. Remington was founded in 1816, and its headquarters is in Madison, North Carolina. Remington competes in the Defense field. Remington has 2,603 more employees than Hornady.

You cannot compare the two. Remington and their conglomerate have been plagued with financial & quality control issues for a over a decade now. Couple that with mis-management and it was easy enough to see coming.

Hornady on the other hand runs as well as their bullet making machines. Their support is undying thanks to their sponsorship of events, constant product improvement, cutting edge bullet tech and their eternal commitment to supporting vets. It's not in the same pond let alone the same boat as Remington.

The economy is tanking now and most likely will keep getting worse for the immediate future. No one knows what is ahead of us. Since reloading components are mostly imported, is anyone stocking up, is there any hoarding going on yet? I just looked at my projectile stock in comparison to powder, and I need a lot more powder to load what I have now.

Yes, there is already a component shortage. I can't find any H4350 for my 6.5CM or H4895 for my .223 and this is normally when I order a couple of 8lb kegs of each.

Has nothing to do with it as far as this shut down goes was clarified on another US forum
100% based right now where they are manufacturing in the US and the virus numbers in their areas
I sure would not want to be working in new york today
Cheers

I have lots of H4895 8lb'ers in stock. Check out my website later on Wed. It's temporarily turned off now.

Your signature shows credit cards as payment but your website FAQ says no credit cards but then under payment info it says yes you do: can you clarify?
I use credit cards for online businesses all the time as the transaction is insured that way.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I used CC with Henry just last week. There is a fee but it works.

OK, I had a look. I normally buy at Hummason or Higginson but both are currently out of stock. Sorry, but unless your price includes shipping and hazmat charges I think I'll pass. Thanks anyway.

No shipping or Hazmat charges. What you see for shipping charges when you check out is what you pay. No surprises!

I fixed that. I do accept credit cards, but there is a 1.95% convenience fee if you use a credit card,

I"m only an hour away from a Canadian manufacturer, and in another direction, from one of his distributors. I pretty much shoot cast lead in everything now (.40, .45, .38/357), and will likely switch back to cast lead when I run out of campros from my 9mm.
