Will there be a Component shortage?

Maybe not. Gun stores in Illinois were declared an essential service and exempt from shutdown by Democrat governor....Seems entirely possible a Republican governor in Nebraska would give Hornady a similar designation in the event of shutdown.

Even if they don't what are the odds any making it to canada. Slim to none

This is why I slowly but surely accumulated surpluses in everything I would need.
Also why some of us cast bullets.

Plan ahead, and "don't horde large volumes at one time", and everyone can last out the shortages with out starving fellow shooters.

Even in normal times its often hard enough to find certain things. Therefore I go by the motto: "Buy what you need when you can" and also I keep a good year's worth of ammo in stock.

With ammo prices going nowhere than up, its even an ok investment :)

To counter inevitable component shortages I have quickly snapped up a few thousand more bullets and a few pounds of powder

"If you need to start stocking up when the pandemic has already started, it's too late."

Most of us have been here before. Possibly some newcomers to the sport and people under 20 yo might be surprised, but the rest of us shouldn't be.

Very true!

I loaded up on goods when this hit italy and the stores here were loaded.... anybody with a brain larger than that of an amoeba could have predicted its just a matter of time until the panic or virus hits here

Not at all worried. Probably have about a years supply of powder and lead at hand. If I run low on flints, will have to go pick some chert up off the ground and start knapping.

True, I got enough 308, but wish I had more haha, he'll wish I had supplies, I'm unemployed so couldn't stock up for the past 6 months

I doubt Hornady would be told to stop making bullets.

It is a factory with people in close contact making something not required right now . There is unnecessary risk and for what a product not required.
One of their top three competitors remington closed didnot they not

Remington is one of Hornady's top rivals. Remington was founded in 1816, and its headquarters is in Madison, North Carolina. Remington competes in the Defense field. Remington has 2,603 more employees than Hornady.

Ah whatever the case I’m trying to troll with optimism.

I’m guessing the situation in Nebraska may not be the same as out east.

Went through having very little to nothing last time. This time I’m good for years.

Same here, I am still sick of all the searching, scrounging and high prices from last time so since then and recently I have been hoarding all I can. It's easy to do casually, my last round of orders was kind of stressful though! There may be an order or two I may not get if CP shuts down.

After what we went through a few years ago I will shed not one tear this time for anyone that doesn't have a stash of some kind
Sadly some will also get none of mine this time since they still have never replaced what they took before :(
Cheers
