What is the main difference other than ammo obviously is a 22 with a 9mm conversion a better option If I'm not sure weather I want 9mm or .40 what is the main difference between the 2 rounds ?

Do you already own either caliber?

9mm is cheaper, lesser recoil and wear, slightly more common to find, the guns hold resale a bit better than .40.

I have a G22 with both the .40 and 9mm barrel. I used to switch between both but now, I’m exclusively using the 9mm barrel.

If I were to do it again and I found a G17 and 22 for close to the same price, I would buy the 17.

9mm is cheaper to shoot. 40 cal is somewhat harder on the pistol. I had the Storm Lake conversion barrel for my 40 and liked it as it shot very well and was fun to switch back and forth depending on how you felt that day at the range.

I beleive the ejector is slightly different as well but should still work fairly reliably. Personally I think the 9mm is the way to go

9mm is fun, 40 has some pop. Something like a Glock I didn't notice much difference with my G22 and the SL drop in 9mm barrel. Found it better to shoot 40 in it, sold the 9mm barrel.

Had a lone wolf 9mm conversion for mine...ran without issue...but stillalive knows how I feel about .40...and too true...40 is always available during ammo droughts...a9mm and 22 might be a nice option...

Also it's a Glock...buy used, buy the cheapest one you can find, Glock is proud to announce they make these for less then $100 per unit, they are durable, reliable, but cheap as hell to make.
Think High Point if they looked like real guns...lol

I know with my old Police Service there has been talk of going back to a 9mm. When we first started using Semi Autos, they were Beretta 96D in 40 and they began to fail after awhile so they went to Glock 22's.

G22 .40 S&W with 9mm conversion barrel is the way to go.

Thereby having the best of both worlds.

The .40 S&W is hardly a waste of time, despite what some may think or say.

NAA.

Thanks for all the info I think the 22 with the conversion barrell is gonna be the direction I go i like 9mm but the fact. 40 I easy to come by in a drought is something I never even thought about

I always suggest 9mm to anyone who asks these sorts of questions. Cheaper ammo, more manageable recoil - you become more proficient with your firearm and sooner.

The exception to this is that if you have to have a specific handgun that either can't be had in 9mm or had to your satisfaction (Walther P99 in .40 does NOT have a barrel that sticks out of the frame/slide but the 9mm version in Canada does - and it's unacceptably ugly for it). To my knowledge, Glocks 17 and 22 are aesthetically identical - 9mm (17), no question.
