Ruger have revolvers with 9 1/2" & 10 1/2" barrels, what other manufactures make revolvers with loooooong barrels?

My 10 5/8" barrel S&W 44 magnum.

NICE. Know of any that are non magnum? Ruger's 9 1/2" is a .22. The range I will probably be joining does not allow magnum rounds.

"...Ruger's 9 1/2" is a .22..." It's a Super Redhawk in .44 mag or .454 Casull or .45 Colt. None of their .22's come with a 9.5" barrel. The SRH comes with a 9.5" or 7.5" barrel, not 10.5". It's a very big revolver, but the grips are the same size as a GP-100.
"...does not allow magnum rounds...." Shoot .44 Specials out of it. Better to load .44 mag cases to .44 Special velocities though.
The old Dan Wesson Company made long barrels. The current company goes to 8".
S&W's max out at 8 3/8".
Shooting a very long barrel isn't as easy as you might think. They're heavy(over 3 pounds for a SRH) and you can't use them in any competitive target shooting. Long barreled revolvers are for hunting. No handgun hunting in Canada.

Here is their .22 with 9 1/2" barrel:

I was in the single action revolver section. They have a more "old west" look to them than the double action. I thought you could fire .44 specials out of a .44 magnum but wasn't sure, thanks.

Not only are they heavy but it is not balanced with so much weight out front. My Desert Eagle is also heavy but the distribution is better. These are not general purpose guns.

the best way is to go what i call near magnum- you stuff a top end 44 special load in a 44 mag case- depends on the club and r/o however- if you show up with a 44 mag and your ammo says 44rem mag on the headstamp, then as far as some of them are concerned, you're shooting MAGNUM, regardless of the powder charge- however, given the price of 44 special cases( right bloody expensive) and the commonality of 44 mag, it's a better way to go- and you don't get the short crud ring inside the cylinder you would shooting the specials

Thats not true, if your into long range handgun silhouette thats where the long barrels shine. I have a 10 inch barreled 44mag, a 10 inch barreled 7mmTCU as well as a 10 inch barreled .308 winchester, also a couple long barreled 22's. The big bores are used to shoot targets out to 200m, at that range the extended sight radius of the long barrels is a big advantage, not to mention when shooting creadmore they are important to the safety of ones leg.

There's nothing stopping you from loading .38 SPL rounds into the chamber of a .357 MAG revolver if you can't shoot magnum loads in LRGC's indoor pistol range. Same goes for a .44 MAG revolver...load it with .44 SPL cartridges.

*Edit: Whoops...didn't realize there was already a second page to this thread and a bunch of people already beat me to it. :D

I learned in the CFSC about the .357 Magnum & .38 Special interchangability, but wasn't fully aware of the .44 Magnum & .44 Special. And yes, the club I will most likely join is Langley Rod & Gun, but there is another around the White Rock area I will look at before I decide.

Dukeoflawnchair, what's the barrel length on that?:D I'm actually rethinking the super long barrel idea right now.

Ruger I beleive made one of their single actions with a 17 inch barrel for export to England- at that length they were allowed in as not being handguns...

Ya beat me to it!:D And they also require a fixed wrist support to reach the legal length to be classed as a "rifle"

Then they banned handgun ammunition but the SAME ammo used in a rifle is OK;)

IMO, join one of the outdoor clubs. You can be to Ridgedale in 30 min or less from Langley.

I dont' know if they've changed or not, but I went out to Langley 3 times in the past asking about joining to shoot handgun and I got treated like crap by the members and the guy behind the counter.
