Pre B CZ 75. LOVE the gun. HATE the sights.

Never having shot either, at this point I'm leaning towards XS Big Dot or Night Fision Accur8.

What's your preference and why?

Thank you.

I put the Defender CZ sight that Wolverines was selling on my CZ SP01 with the 75B cut, and a fiber front. It had factory night sights before.

You might be able to get someone take off night sights off a CZ SP01/Tactical.

the pre b Sights ... are staked in .... think like a 1911 gi ....

no dovetail or slot from the front

Only option is to machine the front of the slide .... and will a rear sight fit with out machining the back of the slide

But who ? .... who makes a sight set that will work ?

Might as well mill it for regular CZ75B sights.

Might as well get a new gun. The cost of milling, refinishing, & new sight installation would be a solid percentage of a Shadowline. Would have the additional benefit of not, in my mind, ruining a nice Pre-B.

Amen. I didn’t want to say it because it’s the OP’s gun and he can do what he wants to it, but OP, please don’t ruin a Pre B.

I have seen some nice pre B and I have seen some police surplus that need a complete re finish

there are
Blued ..... real Bluing ... look nice
Painted ... Black . some nice ones.. seen some with lots of paint wear and chipping
and
Parked models ... rare

First pic is what the sight look like

Sure. Trade me even for a Shadow 1 and my pre B is yours. (Shadow 2 grip is too wide for me.)

Why keep a gun with lousy sights merely to appease some traditionalists?

The guys on CZ Forum didn't have an issue with new sights and refinishing on a gun I enjoy shooting, and will enjoy more with real sights and a nice finish.

Grips are already Pachmyr, altho i have the originals. Maybe some Wicked Grips fake ivory or jade...

I’ll put it this way. It’s basically the same as bubbaing a full wood Lee Enfield or chopping up an all original classic car. For the amount you’d spend on the work on the gun plus the new sights you might as well just sell the Pre B to someone who appreciates it and buy a Shadow 1, because any value it adds to the gun is going to subtract the same amount from the collector value if you try to sell it later on.

But like I said, it’s your gun, you can do what you want with it.

Ballpark, unconfirmed prices...

$170-200 Frame and slide refinish from Notch & Post Custom
$150 MPL luminova sights
$100 installation
________
$450 = ~ half the price of a new Shadow 1. Difference in price can go towards a new revolver or scope, rail and rings or ammo.

AND I get to keep the pre B with its amazing trigger while shooting what looks like a new gun.

If any purists want to trade, PM me.

Now if we may return to my original question... at the moment I'm considering MPL Luminova, if I can get different colored front dot.

What sights do you like and why?

Then say you go to sell it one day after you do all this. Nobody is going to pay $1000+ for a modified Pre B.

I’d offer to trade but I have a Pre B 75, buying a Pre B 85, and have a Shadow 1. Don’t need another Pre B and don’t want to get rid of the Shadow at the moment.

I don’t really care if you hack up your CZ. I was merely suggesting that some place a premium on nice pre-B’s and selling to buy a new gun that fits your requirements may be cheaper and easier.

Since you seem set on modifying the gun you have, I personally would go with something similar to Ameriglo Bolds or a Novak Mega dot. For non-precision applications I find a large orange front post easiest to acquire, and perhaps because most of my shooting has been ISSF disciplines I much prefer a squared rear sight notch.

I think the XS big dot would be an excellent front, but don’t like the rear sight. I’ve always had trouble with Straight 8 style sights.

Nor is anybody gonna pay $1,000 for a well-shot unmodified Pre B.

On a pre-B the front sight tenon also retains the barrel bushing. You can mill a standard Novak cut in the front and rear but you will have to figure out how to retain the bushing. The guy that I know who discovered this the hard way used loctite bushing adhesive (imagine that!!) and all has been well for thousands of rounds.

On a 75B and any variant with the longitudinal front sight dovetail, I believe the cross pin that retains the sight also retains the bushing.

Thanx. I've already sent pics to the 'smith, whose first question was, "Is the front sight held in by a cross pin?"
Being clueless, I sent more pics. He knows what he's in for if I go ahead.

No they usually go for $600ish. Doing $400 of work to it would add zero value if it’s sold.

Having owned it for 25 years, only my estate executor will care about selling.

And you just realized you don’t like the sights now? lol

Interesting false conclusion to which you jumped.

Never like the sights. Painted what passes for a front blade fluorescent orange, before I got a tricked out .40 and stopped shooting it for a long time.

.40 is sold and I want to get this up to shooting shape, especially for low light situations. Because who knows what's gonna happen under the Turd Reich?
