Assuming AR-15s become prohibited.

They decide market value which will probably be 10 cents on the dollar. He has already said no to grandfathering and that is certainly doubly true now

Anyone gotten an AR transferred since this news broke?

Last week I had a revolver transferred to me within 24 hours without issue. Now I'm waiting almost a week for an AR transfer? The day before this news broke they had called me and said the transfer would be complete before the end of that day and a transfer notification emailed to me. I emailed them that night saying I never got the notification (neither did the seller) and here I am two days later still waiting on a reply.

Just seems sort of hinky....

It's not if we get to keep our guns. Or are you saying grandfathering will only lead to confiscation?

Keep - possibly in a grandfathering situation.

Use - probably not based on past experiences (wont issue an ATT or similar thus rendering it a safe queen).

My guns were bought to shoot so if I'm allowed to "keep" them but not "use" them then what good is that to me?

Just because grandfathering delays confiscation, doesn't mean it's not confiscation.

Ask the 12(2-5) guys how well grandfathering has worked out. Yeah, they still own them, but they can't use them and they can't ever be transferred to a non-grandfathered individual or business.

Well said. Grandfathering is delayed confiscation with zero compensation.

related question: if you have a lower that's registered as a receiver only

what happens after a ban?

can you change status if you complete an upper, or one arrives that you bought pre-ban (slow shipping)?

If a ban happens you have to turn that lower in for destruction

Who knows... who cares. If they ban them and we can keep them, why call the government to register your paperweight build? Either way you're not legally shooting it.

conditions on the frame registration certificate say you have 30 day's to notify but a ban might take a while for them to work through, amnesty period etc.

besides, I wouldn't want to run afoul of the law now, would I?

In the radio-canada article.

"The government also wants to set up a “non-permissive acquired rights” regime for owners who do not wish to obtain compensation."

So I'm thinking grandfathering is in the books, but if they grandfather these latest OICs to 12.9, your guns will be paper weight but at least you can fondle them
12.8 you can still bring to the range cause they'll issue ATT's for those.

The question to me isn’t how to get grandfathered or what not.
The question to me, which is unanswerable at the moment is how long before a Canadian manufacturer makes a kit to take the majority of my AR parts (and keep the egonomics) so I can still shoot legally?
And then how long for the next OIC to make that kit illegal.
As if we didn’t already have enough reasons to want the Liebrals out...

They are using the terminology of "STYLE" for the ban, meaning anything that LOOKS LIKE something on their list will get the axe. Doesn't matter if it's non-restricted or not. The BCL102/STAG 10/TROY 102 will all get dumped into the list as will the Maccabee kits.

Curious. If you had an AR-15 could you just give the feds your stripped lower when and if they confiscate them? and keep or sell the parts??
