Firearms reform rumored release this week.

This is a nicely written email friend and I truly hope he see's this and considers this, however it will be deleted as he receives them with a smile by the hundreds without being looked at. How this government was elected by its voter base was by emotional people being whipped up into a mob before they calm down and think rationally. This is how they have always garnered support was by getting people to stop being rational and act on emotions.

The only thing that will work now is by turning that emotional mob back against them by everyone clogging up the system with an assortment of paperwork and court dates to the point that their people beg this party to retract this act because it is costing time and money.

I totally agree with you. I hope everyone on here does the same with regards to the courts. I know I will be. We must do everything in our power. For now it was to send out letters/emails. Next will be to file with courts. After that, well.... I guess we’ll see.

Quebekistan here.

I had a few transfers pending since mid -february. (I know, unfortunatlely 2 months seems to be the norm here these days)
I called today trying to speed things up, got an email later, the handgun went through but not a lower and an AR.

I sent a response asking why they didn't go through, radio silence.

Could it be CFO are freezing transfers before the news hit? any feedback from QC or other provinces?

Fucccccc....

So, assuming someone is going to go with a buyback, as restricted guns are at my home address and not in the lake, how is fair value for buyback determined? Canadian dollar is weak, so Canadian value has gone up. Retail should also be reset higher.

This is completely dumb.

Total misguided waste of effort in the wrong direction.

30 days to act... will have to read the IRG post more closely.

They have a picture of a stag I think as part of the ban story.

Pretty sure thats an AR15 in the photo made by Stag, not a model 10.

AR10 meaning 308 versions of the AR platform likely any brand

The rifle in question is not deemed an AR variant

I wonder if the AR180 series will be lumped in with AR15 variants?

AR180 is not an AR15, so no it wont.

Now shhhhh, no more names.

I suspect it will be flat rates with ARs going for X, M305s going for Y. Maybe the government can sell ARs to friendly governments or American buyers at a profit.

NZ had a blue book of sorts with a base price. New or nearly new specimens getting 95% of that, used specimens get
70% and poor specimens getting 25% of the book value. Aero ARs had a book value of NZ$3000, M305's had a value of $1250

Can this not be challenged in Court? A Class Action?

From our friends at the CCFR.

The Trudeau government is preparing to implement part of the promised firearms reform through regulation, the CBC has learned. Ottawa could act as early as this week to ban certain weapons.

As another gun tragedy has just rocked the country, the Liberals seem determined to quickly turn this crucial part of their electoral platform into reality.

Regulatory changes could be published in the Official Canada Gazette as early as Friday.

The Minister of Public Safety has submitted a recommendation to the Prime Minister of Canada, who must give final approval.

According to our information, this proposal aims in particular to ban 11 types of weapons.

Justin Trudeau could give his approval today, while final discussions are still underway.

In the last election campaign, the Liberals promised to ban military-style assault weapons, including the AR-15 rifle.

It’s not yet known when these changes will take effect, or whether there will be a short-term buy-back program. The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment on the matter.

Liberal election promises

Ban military-style assault weapons, including the AR-15;
Establish a buy-back program for all military-style assault weapons legally purchased in Canada;
Work with the provinces and territories to give municipalities the ability to further restrict or ban firearms.

Poly remembers on the lookout

The Poly lobby group remembers eagerly awaiting the proposed reform. Spokesman Heidi Rathjen writes: We hope to see a similar approach to that of New Zealand, which would include the Ruger Mini-14, the weapon that was used during the polytechnic killing.

For the moment, Radio-Canada has not been able to confirm which weapons are subject to the ban.

The group also warns that this ban will have to be accompanied by more in-depth changes.

The ban on existing models by regulation should be followed by a more general reform of the classification system, which still allows for the introduction of new assault models, said Rathjen.

More details will follow.

The generic term "AR10" also presumably covers the original AR10, upon which the BCL, STAG, Sterling and Matrix rifles are all directly based. They are indeed variants of the original AR10, just not the modern, AR-derived iteration. The intent of including the AR10 is not to ban the relatively few Armalite AR10 rifles in public hands. It is clearly directed at the NR variants, and will be worded in such a way as to capture them.

And no, this is not some "state secret" that I have just divulged to the enemy so that they can more completely screw with us. If you hadn't already noticed, that is clearly their intent tomorrow regardless of what is or is not written on CGN.....

If there is no buyback instituted immediately, has anyone heard any rumours or innuendo as to whether transfers for purchases that are in in the pipeline will be processed?

Even if they offer full value, if they give a grandfathering option, i will keep my firearms. Period.

As the Rob Arms importer we have not been consulted about numbers imported. I do not believe that any industry members have been consulted, so all the estimates on non restricted firearms can only be wild estimates. The lower the Government puts the numbers the less it will cost them and the better the compliance rate will appear!

someone please suggest how they will go after non-restricted? They have no registry, so have no idea who owns what..they kinow who has PAL's and POL's but not what is at each house unless it is restricted....they going to knock on 3,000,000 doors?

They won’t but they will go after AR15s if they aren’t turned in. But I see grandfathering being the solution for the people who don’t want to turn them in.
