I was considering the reasoning why the Libs went after the XCR as well as the AR-15, and came up with something that may or may not have come up on this forum already.

Assuming this BS ban goes through, in two years the LAR-15 pistol and XCR micro pistol will no longer be "a pistol, commonly available in Canada" and therefore, the mags that go along with them will no longer be exempted from the rifle magazine 5-round restrictions.

Say goodbye to 10 round mags.

I dont really need LAR mags anymore since all my rifles that use them are prohibited .... Its really a no issue at this point

^ because AR-15's are the only thing that accepts stanag mags in this country...

Your like the guy ranting about how people shouldnt be able to sell elcans , ar15 mags and magpul accessories because "most" are used for AR15's

Ban bullets...

XCR also prohibited

Guys,

They are after ALL detachable box cartridge magazines.

ALL of them.

I bet they already have the paperwork done, and are just waiting to drop the next letter to the vendors. The only thing surprising about it, is that anyone is going to be surprised when it happens- probably sooner than you think.

Mags and surplus ammo are next to go.

The point here is that when your guns are confiscated, it doesnt matter how many rounds your magazines can hold.

Worry about gun confiscation first and magazines later

I'm saying that people who might have some other rifle that takes these mags, but didn't own one of the banned guns should be motivated to fight this as well.

I feel they know exactly what they're doing and my insidious side says the 20mm -> 20.4mm choke technicality isn't actually a technicality. It affects a lot of shotguns so it makes them happy.
Similarly with the 10kJ, the umbrella covered the 50BMG - which their narrative focused on - but the fact that it extends beyond that to dangerous game rifles just makes them happier.

Just imagine the number of rifles a detachable mag ban would affect. Might be too big of a pill for them to swallow at first glance - but, really, what's a few billion more on top of a quarter trillion!

This.

jeesus the fearmongering

Umm the fear is REAL and it is very justified. He just did this with a stroke of his pen. At a whim, like a decree from the kings of old. SOB might as well wear a crown, at this point.

Meh. They'll just print more money. It's not about the budget. Führer 2.0 would rather destroy the entire country than admit defeat. Just like the FIRST Führer. The one in Germany. And we all know that went.

Blair already stated that they were going after magazines and ammunition next.

He didn't say exactly what he was banning; But the ideas in this thread are probably not far off.

Yup !
Not sure how he plans on going after ammo but as far as magazines go... I can see Blair saying that any 10, 20 or 30 rifle magazine body alone is now a prohibited device (pinned, crimped or otherwise).
After all, a 30rd mag is already limited to 5 rds pinned... so what else could he do to tighten those restrictions ??

And just how are they planning to action that? There are soooooooo many magazines out there, it's more farfetched than expecting to get all the non restricteds out of private hands. I'm not even sure how many mags I have myself. I find them frequently loose in my trunk, the floor of my safe, and even once in a duffelbag while I was packing for a flight.

There are bolt guns that accept the same mags. So no, you can't just ban them because they also fit into an AR. Also companies could just label them "ruger american hunter 10 round bolt action mag".

I am sure that I am not the only gun owner who is experiencing fatigue from all these new legal threats. I have almost reached the point of just not caring what they do. I am not a criminal. I am very careful with the storage and use of my firearms. I have no intention to harm to anyone or to provide those means to anyone.

I think I am just going to live my life and let the chips fall where they may.

You are applying reason and logic to a government that cares for neither. Especially in this time pandemics and lockdowns, the importance of 'getting ahead of the curve' cannot be overstated. Why do we insist on always lagging behind and playing reactionary catch-up?

"They wouldn't do that" is what they will carve into our collective headstones.
