How much wear would you get on the receiver if you left of cerakote? I think it looks cool in the silvery aluminum, more space gun then "scary" military rifle.

I believe they addressed this somewhere in a past post (damn this thing is long now) and you need it to be finished for durability and longevity. Maybe get a custom cerekote job after receiving it? I'm spending WAY too much time dreaming how I'm going to set mine up with the planned two uppers...

Did some measuring, I think a 10.5 barrel won’t be above 660mm with a carbine stock, assuming the receiver is similar to a standard AR-15 receiver. About 10mm short. Might work with a rifle buffer/A2 stock but I don’t have one to check with.

If I remember correctly I think the law says it just can't be capable of discharging while collapsed or folded. It probably wouldn't be worth the hassle if you got pulled over with it, but I've been trying to think of something i can permanently add to a folding stock that blocks the trigger guard when it's folded. I'd love to be able to fit an sbr in a regular sized backpack while I'm out exploring the back county on my bike. It might an idea worth looking into. I'm sure there are some clever people on here that could come up with something.

If the buttstock goes beside the trigger guard it would be easy enough to attach a tab to the buttstock that sat behind the trigger. The problem is as soon as you move it anywhere between fully open and fully closed it could discharge a round. You would have to come up with some sort of plunger in the upper that releases the sear as soon as it’s closed up but as soon as you opened it the plunger would lock it so the hammer can’t fall.

That's the part I don't know about. It wouldn't be meant to fire that way. Technically you can take a short barreled bolt action out of its stock and fire it, but I don't think you could be charged for possession of a prohibited firearm every time you take your rifle apart.

Yeah I’m not sure how that all works. They prohibited bullpup stocks because you could fire the action outside the chassis. Our laws are f#@ked. My guess would be though since it would retain the pistol grip regardless of the position of the stock it would be fireable. Think about AR pistols. They’re designed to be fired without the shoulder thing that goes up. They just have a buffer tube for the bolt carrier and buffer assembly.

A friend has a 10.5 with Vltor stock and S&J linear comp (2"). With the stock at its shortest, the whole thing is 27 inches long.

I know you want the "semi automatic" look to be there but will it be possible to have a more practical lever to be faster and easier to manipulate?

I know you have a list of AR parts that can be used.

I just wanted to clarify the bolt. I understand an AR bolt is used in your bolt body. Are you also using an AR bolt, cam pin, and retaining pin or are they proprietary parts?

Just an update for everyone...

We've been getting a lot of emails from people looking for information about the Light Practical Carbine such as pricing, availability, assembly instructions, how it works.... While we truly appreciate the enthusiasm for our new rifle please don't email us looking for more info. Moving forward we will not be responding to these emails as it takes up too much time.

Here's some updated renderings of the receiver set.
