SKS's flying off the Equipment Exchange

I said here on CGN two years ago that a real value of a Russian SKS is between 800-1000$, if they are made today this will be MRSP price.

I agree with this. No rush to sell mine for $400. I'll even go so far as to say a K31 for $800 is still good value for the quality of rifle one gets.

People love them in the states. Chinese go for 400 for the worst to 8 for the best examples. Russian are double that. Mind you, supply is lower.

Looks like based on current EE listings, market price range is $350 minimum for daily drivers and $450 minimum for non-refurbs. As always, lower priced units sell faster. Definitely a bull market.

Ya bull market for sure, but I'd also say it's a shooters market, at least in the sense that guys want them as shooters. A rare or completely original model should bring double what a beater does. But, that's not the case.

I knew it was a good idea to keep alls my non-refurb SKS....... when i see the asking price for sks that look like ####..... i can't imagine the value of some SKS that i would rate ''collector grade''

You guys notice that Cabelas totally removed them from their online stock? I had one ordered a couple weeks ago before the craze started last week. Have a shipping notification that has sat idle at “waiting for pickup” for five days now... Strange... something tells me their inventory was off... or their distributor is charging them more for them and they don’t want to sell them for the price they are asking

Cabelas typically removes them when they are out of stock as they are considered special purchase. I think we are just seeing a massive buying surge as almost everyone is out. Bullseye has them all.

You guys see the unissued Russians that retailers are all of a sudden getting. I’ve seen a couple websites list them for 699+... had no idea that unissued Russians existed in large numbers in Canada still...
Unissued after refurb, most are like this. I have a few non refurbs,,, which means I believe it has not been refurbed, BUT, it has been issued, no refurb marks Nice rifles but has wear on blueing and wood like it was lightly used in the field. Actually quite cool. My belief is that every one of our sks has gone through a refurb factory, even if they are close to new, just a process and some did not require and work done. I have a couple nice ones and have seen some really nice ones but none would make me think they were unissued AND non refurb. Ymmv.
The market now for the most part is for basically any sks, so, folks are getting $400. Plus for a shooter grade rifle, which is great, nothing wrong with it. The nicer collectible or at least very good condition Russian SKS will pretty much only get a similar price as the buyers only want to shoot the SKS not collect. They could give a crap what year or what country for the most part and that is fine! I will wait till the price of a nice Russian copy catches up to what they should be. As with any firearm, they are worth what the market will bear!

I agree. The finest examples haven't appreciated much... Yet!

You are right. They will pay $699 for non matched Chinese SKS with a Russian stock and blade bayo, but will not pay $500 for all original and matched non refurb Russian SKS.

So, i have to ask.. what is the current price for Non issued, non refurb, possibly never fired, brand spanking new letter "k" (1958 last known year of production) in super ###y laminated stock..

Late '55/early '56. Any sks made before these dates and has a laminate stock is a refurb stock.

Yes, and late 55-58 can have solid birch or laminate stock original from factory. Hard to say if there are any unfired non refurb as it is hard to prove but there are some very nice ones around for sure! As for the term super grade, that was a term made up by importers and retailers. I have seen super grade in worse shape than a regular priced shooter grade! Buyer beware!
