Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

You got transfers from May 1st and 5th approved in Ontario? Where these ON-ON?

I have transfers from March that are still pending.

Ya really.. same here. I’m curious as well.. I’m still waiting for a March transfer to go through too...

Sorry for any confusion.
I was backtracking the posts on this forum to see what the last day Ontario completed a transfer.
Those dates for transfer completion
1. Jrocket; Same here. SK to ON handgun transfer started on March 18 was completed today. (May 1)
2. CaptainJoe: March 30 - May 5 - ON to ON. (new store sale)
3. Montefetro; My transfer from April 8th..nothing yet.
Buddy bought same gun, same retailer a week after me, his just came through today..maybe 3 weeks (May 7)

Last 3 posts on this forum confirming transfer completion

Interesting, wonder if transfers are now on hold while they sort their sh!t out re pre 5/1 restricted (now prohibs) - and if they are or aren’t to be approved.

3/24 and waiting on restricted ON store sale.

They are not processing any I’m still waiting on a transfer from March 20th. I would suggest everyone start contacting their local mpp and the premier. Be respectful but make your point.

I don't know how to be respectful at this point. Mind posting yours with sensitive information removed so I can copy/paste it to my MPP?

I'm in Ontario and made two recent purchases as well Mar 24th from Alberta and another from my local Dealer Mar 28th and still no final CFO approval. Still waiting unfortunately. I just made another purchase from Sask so guess the clock reset on that one, prob won't show up till end of summer now.

Just keep in mind that the premiers office is probably busy with their COVID19 response and isn’t providing the necessary oversight of the Ontario CFO. Let them know that outside of Ontario (excluding Quebec) that the approval process is normally within 24hours where as Ontario is going on a 8 week timeline and that you would appreciate it if they could tell the CFO office to get moving and to stop intentionally holding up transfers for licensed and screened individuals.

I’m in Ontario and seeing these other provinces transferring in days as opposed to months like us is enraging. Why is everything in Ontario trash. I don’t understand why I have to wait 2 months for a transfer and why are some approved before others? I can only imagine how incompetent this office is. Probably absolutely archaic equipment and understaffed. I wouldn’t even care if it was 2 or 3 weeks but 8 weeks+ now?! Cmon man.

Called them today and they said they are processing March 16th. I have NO IDEA what is going on there.

They told me that some days ZERO transfers are happening due to lack of staffing and having to answer phone calls.

Anybody have transfers go through recently? If so, what dates were the transfers initiated?

They are working with reduced staff due to Covid as well due to a buying frenzy they have roughly 6500 pending transfers in Ontario.

You can't blame the people answering the phones or doing transfers, they have to work with what they have.

They’ve been saying March 16th for two weeks. If they said they were closed it would be a different story

I did a transfer last week in AB. Phoned in Tuesday morning, had approval at noon Wednesday. About 27 hours.

You guys need to get an ombudsman or MP involved. Your wait time is ridiculous. Covid isn't an excuses for an 8 week wait.

Haha Im probably never getting it now I just got off the phone with 1 800 731 4000. Asked the speak to Ontario CFO, the extension I was transferred to wont put you in line, nor take a message.
30 business days plus. Volume ? Bullsh*t

Just received this email. The long and short of it is since 4/29 they have moved 2-3 days and have 7013 transfers still to go....

"We are currently working on transfers that were started Mar 17/18th. Waiting to be completed are 7013 transfers with extremely limited staff. We're not getting through them very fast....again staffing.
Probably another week or two if the gov't doesn't make any more announcements and overload our phones and emails with questions.
Regards, Kathryn

Ashley, thanks for the response. Would you be able to share what week you are currently processing?

Thanks again!

Staffing shouldn't be a problem, they're an essential service. I'm sitting in my office working right now, cry me a river. :)
I can't think of an occupation that's better suited to working from home than processing transfers anyway, except maybe web site development.
