CPC Leadership

I think we all need to come back to reality and realize that CGN users are not the only ones voting for the leadership race here guys...

At this point in time new polls from Main Street Research suggest that MacKay is in first with 40% of the vote, O'Toole with 34% Lewis with 9% and Sloan 5%. My vote will go to O'Toole and Lewis as second choice.

Polls could be used to influence how people vote and are often used as propaganda tool by the other side. What were the polls saying about Scheer winning CPC leadership last time around?... Came out of nowhere and defeated the frontrunner.

2 points to make here.

First, if that's the thought process here then we shouldn't believe anything the media puts out.

Second, the leadership will be decided by runoff ballot and considering O'Toole is the second choice for the majority of Lewis and Sloan's supporters that would indicate he is in the same position as sheer was last time which means he has an excellent chance of winning when Sloan and Lewis drop off the ballot.

Or maybe people aren't interested in being told what to do with their bodies by anyone, left or right.

I could agree with that. My position is I do not support abortion. My position is also that it not up to the government to interfere that heavily with people. So I would oppose legislation prohibiting abortion even though I am pro life. I'm tired of government encroachment that serves no rational purpose.

I wish Lewis would use this line more often.

Totes mcgoats.

My philosophy in a nutshell: If you don't like guns don't own guns. If you don't like abortion don't get one.

This country would be a paradise if people simply minded their own business, and we stopped electing governments (left and right) that treat us like children.

Amen

Normally O'Toole would get my vote and he would be the obvious candidate. Unfortunately he will fail to secure support in Ontario and Quebec, and also B.C. He will be labelled as "another old white dude" by the woke culture and soy-boys. If we want to win, we need Ontario. As shallow as it is, i feel our only way to win is with Lewis. She seems very capable, and the woke culture will vote for her.

Lewis has my vote. Sorry Erin.

This is where we're realistically at. #### McKay. OToole would have been my vote too, but it HAS to be Lewis. She's not flaunting that pro-life #### though, is she? It'll bite us in the ass if she is.

You are clearly not well versed on the topic. Do a little more research and enlighten yourself

No, that's okay. I know what I want in a government and neither side really offers it. I just hold my nose and put an X in the box that annoys me the least.

That's marginally more productive than trying to return to a bygone world that never actually existed.

You wouldn't be the only Canadian voting in that manner so you are definitely not alone.

Decide for yourself.

I got this email from her campaign today. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if she had ended with something like "However, I would never support any move to prevent or hinder a woman from accessing safe abortion services if that was her choice" The problem is she didn't! .......... Without that type of clear statement she would be Scheer all over again.

As it stands I think the Libs and the media would crucify her over this topic and she would be unlikely to poll even 30% in a general election. Hello Trudeau majority.

Dear ######XX,

I need to tell you a personal story.

I think when you know it you will understand why abortion is not a settled issue for me.

And I believe that even if you have a different opinion than me, you will understand my position a little better.

When I had just completed Law School and was starting my law career, articling on Bay street, I got pregnant.

From a career perspective this was the worst possible timing. Who would hire a law student walking around pregnant? How was I even going to study for and pass the bar exam?

The pressure to have an abortion was immense.

Friends went ahead and booked abortion consultations on my behalf.

People told me that I didn’t have a choice. It was my future, or my baby.

I need to be honest with you. In some sense they were right. For example, I was the only student not hired by the firm I was articling for, despite performing very well in my time there.

But I had something almost nobody else in my situation ever has: a supportive partner.

The most important person in my life stood by my side and helped me withstand the pressure.

And in the end, despite initial setbacks in my career, I have thrived, running my own law firm and getting incredible opportunities to teach in universities. And now I am running for leadership of our party.

My children have helped give me purpose and made me a better lawyer. They have shown me the power of choosing life.

And they are the reason I want to fight for all the women and girls who, like me, felt immense social social pressures to have an abortion.

I have been clear with my “No-Hidden Agenda” plan that:

I will fight for the vulnerable through banning the misogynistic practice of ###-selective abortions.
I will end abortion funding overseas and focus Canadian funding on actually helping women and girls overseas thrive.
I will criminalize coerced abortions.
And I will increase funding for pregnancy centres.
The last point is very important to me because I want women and girls all across Canada to have what I actually had: the support to choose life.

I want them to know that in this country you don’t have to choose between following your dreams, and having a family.

That’s what I’m fighting for.

And now you know why.

Sincerely,
