ATRS Update: May 20th 2020 Re: MS / MH / MV

I'm in for a donation when you file a court challenge. I think you guys have a pretty strong case here, especially since it sounds like you have all the supporting documentation that this was an entirely new firearm design and the RCMP agreed that it was a new design. This blatant overreach and abuse of power needs to be put to an end, just like the OIC.

This is my take on this.

The RCMP have been given a mandate to ban anything AR-15 ish by the Turd Reich, so they are doing what is necessary to follow this directive (rewritten FRTs etc).

The problem for the RCMP is that these firearms were given an FRT that distinctly states they are not AR-15s before all this craziness came down the pipe. To the uniformed observer however they appear similar so must be included to please the Turd Reich. The RCMP most likely know this will result in legal challenges but thats not their problem, they have fulfilled their duties.

Please note I am not defending this - quite the contrary - I think it draws attention to how ludicrous it all is but the RCMP don't care as they can check off the necessary boxes.

Good explanation but you don't mention using the MS - where does that land now legally speaking?

From the reading I have done it seems that as the FRT databases which are accessible to the common folk show it as NR then technically its still good.

The potential issue I see is that if contact with any uninformed LE members were to happen then:

1) It looks like an AR-15 and Justin said they were banned so out come the cuffs

2) The FRT would be your defence, and it still shows NR, but if LE check their database and it shows as prohibited guess which one they will go with (out come the cuffs again) and a long expensive legal battle will begin.

Or am I missing something?

The big problem is that your CFO might say non-restricted while a police force says prohibited!!!
Right now in Quebec, we seem to be okay since the CFO (SQ) and police force (SQ) are the same.
I have no idea about Ontario’s stance (OPP) on this issue and would be weary of RCMP.

This mess needs to be cleaned up in court ASAP.

Murray Smith. And yes, seriously. He was rabidly anti gun. Should be interesting to find out if it's authorized changes to FRTs or not.

I would not be surprised one bit if he took it upon himself to make the FRT changes to the firearms that weren't named in the OIC. What better way for a guy (who probably hated having to give NR status to firearms he didn't want to give NR status to) to go out than leaving by giving a big FU.

Sounds like he would be all too happy to jump at the opportunity to overreach.

He didn't always give NR classifications. Remember the vz858 "spartan" debacle? That was him.

Best case scenario, he went over board changing the live FRT, they recognize this and correct it before it ever goes out to the business portal! A guy can dream right!

I'm sorry you guys have to go through this, it's clearly an overreach and if justice still lives in Canada it will be overturned.

Here's hoping we get a decent replacement for Murray.

Right now in Canada:
* our MPs are not sitting in the House of Commons and doing their job,
* Canada does not have a budget !?!?!?,
* no fiscal update is planned ??!?!!?,
* firearms reclassification was passed using OIC (WTF),
* some retiring RCMP officer starts modifying FRT database before retiring (super WTF)

Canada is turning in a Banana Republic or at least a Circus really fast.
You can run a good country like that, has everyone forgotten about Law, Order and Good Government?
I'm not quitting on Canada but I'm getting fed up with some of our politicians and some members of the RCMP.

This Murray fellow may have expanded the prohibitions in the FIC to a) get it ready for another order in Council, b) halt production and sale of what are legal, unrestricted firearms, c) flush non-restricted semi-automatic owners into the open when they legally challenge an illegal, FIC based police seizure, or d) all of the above. Should there be a groundswell of support for the community, he has already retired, and his changes can be undone.

Absolutely... I can totally understand where Rick is coming from... he's under attack and then I launch a copy of his rifle... but I don't think his characterization is fair.

I take his post more as a guy under pressure than a personal attack. But I still cannot sit back and allow a complete misrepresentation stand.

It seems I went off half cocked and do apologize. I was NOT aware you had your own design in the works so needless to say saw red to find out that you went ahead and copied our design. I don't recall $200.00 being mentioned but seem to recall $100.00. But that may have been per part. To learn you have 500 ready to go within a month of our conversation led me to believe this was much more premeditated. To crank out 500 in a month normally would be impossible. It takes time to get materials in and time to write programs and then time to actually make the parts, and believe me I AM very aware of the timeframes required.

I deleted many inflammatory posts and hope this is the end of this. Our products are "very dear to our heart" in your words.
