I am trying to find information on the difference in quality between the 2.

Trying as hard as I can to find an WS, impossible to find and when I ask questions about it to retailers they almost act as if it doesn't exist and can pop up at a moments notice.

Seeing WK180c pop up on the EE regularly, almost feel like snatching one, but don't feel like getting something flawed by design.

What you guys think about this?

Either way I really want to get into this game, so I can recycle my ACOG, flip up sights, vickers 2 point sling and magpul furniture, and go back to doing CQB drills with my plate carrier setup.

The WK is a bit of a dice roll. Kodiak produced them so fast they had some quality control issues with the Bolt control group; some users had pieces are it fall off. Kodiak has been pretty good about it replacing a failed BCG. The steel BCG riding along the aluminum guide rails in the WK can sometimes cause aluminum shavings to come off the interior. Kodiak considered this cosmetic damage, and will not help you with it.

The MCR added metal side panels to the design, and I've seen non reports of the BCG damaging the receiver. Kodiak's to own followup, yet to be produced rifle also has steel side panels. I saw someone in Reddit had machined in their own steel panels inti a WK; I suppose if you're handy, you could do the same, but that would void the warranty.

I have seen no reports of BCG issues with the MCR.

If at all possible, it probably safer to go for the MCR.

There are plenty of postings on CGN of issues with the WK180-C. I've had good luck with mine but other people haven't been as lucky.

On the other hand I haven't seen much for problems with the WS-MCR posted here. Maybe that's an indication that it's a better product?

Hi, well I have both now and they are very similar. The MCR seems to be better finished and has a tighter fit between the upper and lower for sure. I've had no issues with my WK even though my serial number is below 50.
The MCR, with having only taken it out once since receiving it seems rock solid. It is slightly more money than a WK but worth it I think. It's a beauty.
The MCR trigger is ok, somewhat heavy pull but infinitely better than the stock WK trigger.
Overall the MCR is awesome, Wolverine and Spectre nailed it.

Thanks for the post!

I recently picked up an MCR from the EE here and it is fantastic! I was torn between the WK and the MCR and also had trouble finding much info on the MCR. I just felt like the aluminum receiver/steel bolt handle was a no go for me. If you can find an MCR don't hesitate to grab it. You won't be disappointed.

I’ve only had my MCR out to the range once. It did not like the polymer lar mag, but the steel ones worked with zero issues. Accuracy was really good for my use, I’m definitely happy with it.

I've only used metal mags... The two 5/30's that came with the MCR some 10 round LAR ones and 10/30's and haven't had any failures but i've only put a couple hundred rounds thru thus far. The only mag issue i've noticed is if you seat the mag with the bolt open you can pretty easily over insert it... you don't need much force to fully seat them.

The NSR and the MCR are both newer products, so there's been less of a timeline for them to have complains. The first run of WK180-cs for example had nearly no issues (before the heat-treating mess which caused the recalls). My early WK180-c has been a champion so far. Had a few very minor FTEs which were fixed by simply adding the 'ol donut.

My WK180C has had quite a few hiccups but with that being said it shoots reliably. I've now put 4300 rounds through it.

Being honest I would get a WK180C as they are in stock, I would then buy a WS-MCR, compare and sell the one you don't want.

Kodiak have great customer service.

Found my WS-MCR it's on it's way!
Just hoping it likes my PMAGS, as I got plenty and want to use the rifle for rifle to pistol transition drills, until my AR becomes range legit again...maybe...maybe someday....

So I'll swap my flip up sights, magpul furniture, ACOG, Vickers 2 point sling to the MSR, we'll see what gives.
Planning on burning my lake city and PMC X855 62 green tips in it.
