The New Ruger SR9 represents the next generation of highly refined, precision engineered firearms from one of America's leading firearms manufacturers. At least according to Ruger.

Wow, yet another attempt at copying the Glock. I thought the general consensus was that "polymer framed guns are weak and will never replace steel or alloy frames." Yet I see every manufacturer now offers a polymer pistol.. That sure is interesting.

Well to be fair, Glock borrowed many of its key features (such as the polymer frame, DAO trigger and polygonal barrel) form HK VP70, which predates Glock 17 by almost two decades.

That is true. However, Glock was out on a limb with polymer before polymer was cool. Unlike the latest newcomers to the polymer market. Kind of like AR's or 1911's. Everyone and their dog now makes one.

Ruger is what? 10 years behind the times? I am surprised it comes with a 17rd magazine, inst that against Ruger's policy?

Anyone know how much in Canada and when? Everyone is on the polymer wagon because consumers are buying them, nothing wrong with that. I like all guns my 1911`s, my polymers, my rifles, shotguns...you get the point. Lets not be so quick to bash, just be grateful for yet another choice.

I actually like it too... if they show up here for $400'ish I'd get one for sure!!
I need something in 9x19 and this could be it :) - But $600+ and I'll get a Glock instead :p

They are listed at $525 USD on Ruger's site... prices are typically on par or less before the dollar upped. Should retail for around $500. Very appealing.

ruger has never made a good semi auto center fire pistol.
They are just not in tune with what shooters need.
Now ill never say that a ruger is not a well made gun but they just dont get what peopel need out of good hand gun
