Remington pump rifles compared to 870

I would agree with 450 Yukon the 14-141/2 are great smooth actions it would be nice if Remington brought them back probably with moder manufacturing techniques they would be able to make money off them now

Sort of getting off the OP's track here but Remington realized the writing on the wall with all the new cartridges that were appearing with pointy bullets. They had considered chambering the .300 Savage but put the effort into the new 760 development.

A 14 1/2 Model continuation might have stayed somewhat viable- look at the Colt lightning reproductions. I'd buy one in .357 because I sure can't find 1 14 1/2 in 38-40!

That 141 is I believe unfired as I have posted questions on it in this forum.

The model 14 and 141 were designed to work with pointed bullets and worked perfectly.

The pointy bullets of the 30-40s weren't as pointy as say a full magazine of stiff 200gr Accubonds today. I'm 66 and don't ever remember seeing anything pointier that RN for the 25,30 and 32REm.

Lots of good info here. Thanks guys! Now I'm pretty keen on finding an original stock (not Monte Carlo) 760 or 7600 in .308. Either of the police models seem as rare as hens teeth, but I'm keeping my eyes open for them too. It seems like there's quite a few desirable qualities that these guns have.
