Because they are the greatest bargain in accuracy and durability apparently....lol.
At least the Zastava M70 is a true 98 clone, with better fit and finish then a Hawkeye, and comes with a fully adjustable trigger along with the rough action. They are also pretty respectable accuracy wise...for $300+ less.
I know you love the Ruger, don't take it personally...there might have have been a time when they were a bargain and there was little comparable rifles out there. With that $300 you saved you can buy another Axis... and scope it with a Bushnell Sportview.

It might have been in the 80's when the Sportview was available however...that model has been discontinued since then lol.
I don't own any Axis, so you might be confusing me with someone else. I do own a bunch of 1940's-70's rifles that cost me about the same as an Axis, mostly Mauser types (PH/FN/HVA), some target rifles, couple push feed Winchester M70's and BSA CF2's.
There are not a lot of new production rifles that really turn my crank... Vanguard/Howa are pretty decent and have a few of those, if you want a real "bargain" that's where it's at, compared to the Hawkeyes anyway lol.

Good God, this guy just can`t help himself, seems to have some sort of infeority complex or something.
It's always funny how some self proclaimed experts are quick to compare their "super duper Ruger rifle" with the cheapest Savage out there just to justify their POS at 3 to 4 times the price. Fan boys are fan boys and no experts, imo, lol!
My experience with Rugers 10/22 jammomatics left me with "Never buy anything Ruger". Heck, I was shooting a JW-20 beside the 10/22 dudes and while it was eating everything flawlessly (88 rounds of different ammo) they were scrambling to get a full mag running through every time.

^Well he had to open a zipper for reload. Didn't go as smooth as he wanted I guess. The video posted prior to this one - is the standard ejector on these "fine" Rugers throw the brass like that?
They are pretty solid in getting the empty brass out of the way. You can also work the bolt slowly and have the brass be delivered into your cupped hand while sitting at the shooting bench. Depends how you want it to go.
