Here to make things interesting . So the transfer went through on the 21st of July , no notifications at all . Today I come home and see my registration certificate on the table , phone the business and they tell me they shipped it out today . What a bunch of BS , the firearms was approved 7 days ago and the registration managed to get to my house before the gun even shipped .April 28th and still waiting lol . Next week it’s 3 months ffs
Guess I’ll have to pen a letter to Ford this morning.
Good day, Premier Ford.
My issue is with the inordinate amount of time it takes the CFO, to process a simple procedure and Ontario's licensed fire arm owners are being made to wait, months longer than the other provinces - (with the possible exception of Quebec), to be able to take possession of something they have paid for, it is already registered to their name and are legally allowed to own.
The part I have a hard time understanding - and maybe my understanding is "out to lunch", but I believe that Mirimichi handles the transfer of ownership from the seller to the buyer, on the initial phone calls from each ? - and that process is completed within the first 24/48 hours. From there it goes to the CFO and we are simply waiting for permission/authorization for the previous owner to ship it to the new owner. Our names and info (licensed firearm owners) are on a continues loop through CPIC and if we're not "flagged", it should be a simple "rubber stamp" - and done. Seems to me that this process is being made a lot more involved than it needs to be. The western provinces can run through these in a couple of days - if Ontario has so many new transfers going on, that they are backlogged for two or three months - perhaps they should hire a few more clerks ?
I know that you are currently busier than a one armed paper-hanger, but if there is anything your office can do, to help Ontario's CFO, get closer to the efficiency of the other provinces, myself and thousands of others, would greatly appreciate it.
Regards - My name, Oshawa.
I'm not expecting this will produce any real action - maybe, if there were a couple thousand submissions, it might get their attention. I fear it is as my dad use to say - "You may as well rub butter on your ass - It won't help, but it can't hurt".

I know the cfo or registrar or whoever does the transfer is to blame for this delay but I woulda thought the shop woulda had a bigger sense of urgency to ship this out considering the wait and the dollar amount but they took their time ...
Oh I did and they have my email on fileI always ask for the notices to get sent to me by email. That way there's no wait for a paper copy.
Is there a reason for this? Other provinces are couple days to couple of weeks not couple three months
Ontario has by far the highest number of restricted firearms. As of 2019 there were 365,000 restricted firearms registered in Ontario. Alberta and BC were second and third with 193,000 and 181,000, respectively. I have no idea how this data has changed for 2020 so far, especially in light of COVID and panic buying. Still doesn't excuse a 10 week wait period though.

Actually the transfer went through July 13th , why in the world did the shop take till the 28th to ship it ?
Why are you asking us???
You should be asking the shop and then reporting the answer here, sheesh...
