Sterling Arms TR

Lol, yeah that is probably one of the safer ranges ;)

I am only shooting on private property and crown land... If asked I am not doing their work for them, in terms of associating it with AR15s or any other prohib firearm.. As far as I know its called the Target Sporting Rifle by Sterling Arms as marked on the lower receiver and was not one of the ones named in the OIC, that's it that's all

agreed, but having the documents handy in case it goes further is not a bad idea, especially since most LEO and CO's won't be able to tell the difference between an SAI TR and an AR.

Okay.... The last batch with the "specific serial #s are leaving today! Special eye roll for #69 and #420, but a good laugh over 666 and the very auspicious 888.

We now can deal with the waiting and wish lists due to cancellations.

Yes there are extra uppers available as well. Price on those are $400 (plus GST)

Unfortunately, Logan is away this week and I cannot understand his "post it note" lists, so everyone who has written will have to wait till next week....

I'll follow up in this thread next week.

You can also email Logan and Tara: websales@theshootingedge.com

Also: since they haven't left our shop yet, if you want them assembled, we still do this.

Using a KE Arms (Arizona, US made) GI Parts kit.

I say cest la vie and take a file to the catch

It's hanging up on the side of the receiver? Like it's not that the mag release it has to be threaded in more?

My buddy's measures 0.24" and the hole in receiver is 0.25".. or 6.1mm and 6.4mm respectively

Email sent about the possibility of snagging a cancelled order.

A friend of mine believes either his LPK is out of spec, or the well/cut for the magazine catch may be out of spec

He went to build today, and the catch won’t even seat 50%. It gets completely hung up

Thoughts?

Is it fully threaded in? Push on the mag release button then rotate the catch clockwise a few times and see if that doesn't fix it.

Yeah, it won’t even enter the cut-out enough to start threading the button on the other side. Looks like about 1mm too wide to fit in.

Not an issue by any means - just wondered if anyone else experienced this

My first thought is to test it against another lower if possible (such as an AR15).
I have run into issues with a magazine catch unable to fit one lower, but fit another. While this might lead one to think the lower is out of spec, I cross tested it with another bolt catch, and it fit both lowers.

Sometimes the tolerances can be JUST at (im)perfect alignment that they don’t work.
The choice in this case is to file an expensive part, or file a cheap $10 part... I know what option I’d be choosing.

The 2 issues we've seen:

1) The front pivot pin retaining spring needs to be trimmed about 1/3 of an inch as the hole is not deep enough in the original design. Not a biggy.

2) The bolt catch retaining screw cannot be tightened all the way or it binds the bolt catch. Adjust it out till the bolt catch moves freely and leave it. It won't back out.

Would this be the cause of the bolt not staying back when charged? When attempting to chamber a first round, my bolt won't catch with some of my P-Mag Gen 2 magazines, while others are fine as are 10/10 cross and my older OEM Colt mags from my AR.

Do you mean holding open after the last round or manually bringing the bolt back? Could be... does the catch move freely?
What are you using for a bolt catch? Do you have a Phase 5?

Lots with this issue above. Seems some charging handles work and some don’t. They pull the bolt back 1/4” less then an ar does. As the receiver is different lengh then an ar. Nothing to do with mags. The bolt catch can not engauge as the bolt is still in way and not pulled rearward enough.

Manually bringing the bolt back. I have 12 Magpul Gen 2 mags and about half of them do work, while the rest don't. I've tried 2 charging handles but will try the charging handle from my Colt AR and see if that works.

My friend is very happy with his build.

Sorry I have not put mine together but I have the DPMS LPK and it says nothing about a bolt catch retaining screw (maybe its there i just not sure). Do I have to purchase separately?
