.001 copper wire

Thats going to be a hard one to find im guessing . If you google copper or brass breakaway wire/ witness wire. That is 0.010 . I know this probable to thick for u but if it helps you PM me I can mail you a couple feet. If anything it might give u a starting point to find thinner stuff.

The smallest I can find is .005", which you'd get by cutting up 26awg 10 strand wire.

Malin Co might sell it though if you call them.

I don't have a micrometer to check size, but I know I have a roll of thin magnet wire. What is your plan with such thin wire?

Screwing around with an old Mossberg Scope...I broke one of the crosshairs....
I have an old wtr htr gas vlv wonder what size wire is on the coil.
What I was just told...it needs to be thinner that a human hair (0.04 to 0.06 mm)
Maybe someone else will chime in...

I was going to refrain from telling this joke, but it's just a joke.

Q: how was copper wire invented?
A: Two J _ _ _ fighting over a penny!

Catch a spider.....GENTLY squeeze with tweezers, don't hurt him..... his web should be about .001....perhaps a bit smaller. Very strong stuff & durable.

May not need to be copper? Thinking I had read Ross Seyfried - a lion - cross hairs just coiled up and went away at a very bad time - he just used centre of view and fired - it worked - but his comment was that analysis found an occlusion in the steel of the cross hair wire - so maybe does not have to be copper to be a cross hair??

Get a fine filament of thin copper wire, fix one end in a vise, grip the other end with pliers and pull gently until it breaks. The wire will reduce in diameter until it breaks and may be fine enough to use for your purpose.
I once worked in a wire drawing mill and that is how we reduced the wire to feed through increasingly smaller diameter dies.

Had some company over, pretty hard being polite when all you want to do is head down to your shop....

Okay did some checking. The broken copper wire used is actually .002
After taking Standardvel suggestion, I pulled apart an Iphone charging cord that doesn't work anymore.
Single wire out of the multi strand wire is .001.

Now to see if it will accept solder or I'll just use some CA.

Thx everyone...and thank you Standardvel
