And here we go. I'll be honest it took allot longer than I expected.
It's hard to shoot 1/4 inch groups with even the very best of custom small bore rifles. Mine are capable of 1/4 inch 3 shoot groups. Sometimes I do even better than 1/4 inch but they are 3 shot groups for the most part. I don't shoot 5 shot groups often as I do not shoot competition and I want to save the barrel.
My 280 shoots far above it's paygrade and better than I do with 56.5 grains of H4831 and 140 accubonds. Nickel plated Winchester brass (all I could find a couple years ago) and federal 210 gold medal match primers. As long as I got the scope on, a rock solid rest and I haven't drank half a case of rockstar that day, it will send a gun load into the same hole at 100 consistently. That's the only rifle I have that I'm confident in to do that if I do my part. My 30-06 was probably a fluke doing it twice in a row, but if I could get into 3/4" consistently that was good enough for me. My 300 Savage is also stupid accurate with 150 Hornady interbonds at 75 yards give or take with open sights, varget, Hornady brass and fed gold medal primers. Haven't played with the 243 enough to know what it'll do yet. But with starline brass, federal gold medal primer, 32 grains of H4350 and 95 grain nosler ballistic tips it did 3/4" too. Good enough for me, but the trigger on that 243 is absolutely atrocious. Then there's the 270... It sits in the safe, I just don't like that gun for some reason.
I`ve been shooting & re-loading for 50 years and have shot more than a few 5 shot 1/4" groups. The catch is they have been with varmint type well tuned bolt actions with 8 to 10 oz. triggers and 20x scopes. Anyone who actually does this type of thing knows how difficult it is to go from 3/8 and 5/16" groups to 1/4" groups.To expect a 7600 ( probably with a creepy 8 lb. trigger) to consistently produce 1/4" groups or thereabouts is just, well plain ridiculous.

Yup. To be fair, the OP has never stated at what yardage he shot his 1/4” groups. I’m guessing as he is a bush hunter, probably 25 yards.
You can hip shoot a group with a 22 at 25 yards if you worked at it.
I do have a 180 yard field to shoot across. And yes you can group 1/4"with a pump at 100 yards from a picnic table in that field. Just not with all of them.

An absolutely outrageous claim has been made. One, that if true, deserves a reward.
I am seriously impressed. There are guys in PRS and F-class with $10,000 rifles that can’t get 1/4” groups. You should consider competing with those old pump guns.
