While adjusting the magnification it makes things appear farther instead of closer.
This thread needs pictures but taking a guess I would say the power ring might be a multi start thread and somehow you screwed it out and moved the ring then re engaged it on a different thread so that the indication numbers no longer line up to what the magnification is.
I have a Tasco 1.75-5x20 scope that I mounted to my 22 rifle. While adjusting the magnification it makes things appear farther instead of closer.
Anyone know what is causing this?

With the Tasco 1.75-5x20, the thinner end should be facing towards the muzzle with the larger end pointing towards your eye. If you've got the fat end pointing towards the target, it's backwards.
