Sorry the Leupold is a VX-3i 1.5-5x20.... not that I don’t like it really just that I find it not as “stable”( probably not the right term) than my vortex or my bushnell elite 3200, maybe it as more parlax than I’m use too...Personnally, I like Leupold scopes with ones inch tubes. I have some older Vari-X II and Vari-X III, as well as the newer VX-2, VX-3 and VX-3i in various magnifications. I also have an older (dicontinued) Bushnell Elite 4200 in 1.5-6X36 that is quite nice.
A few manufacturers used to have compact scopes in their lineup (Burris and Leupold come to mind), but the current trend seems to be towards more powerful scopes with bigger maintubes.
What is it you do not like about the Leupold Vari-X III in 1.5-5X20?
I hunt mainly moose, most of the time from a canoe, on rivers and lakes, weight is not a real issue even if it is nice to have something light but I rather have something good and reliable than something lite... it would be forWhere and how are you using the scope? What is your priority... weight? If you want a really light scope and are using it at closer range, the Leupold FX-II 2.5x20 Ultralight is only 6.5 ounces and will hold up to big bore recoil.

My new rifle, Ruger no1 in 9.3x62 and will be use for bisons and moose! I want something compact being my main criteria!! That is what I like about the Leupold vx-3i 1.5-5x20
can't go wrong with a used Leupold M8 6X!

Hmmm ok will have to look around!! One inch tube is preferable since the rifle comes with 1” rings!!Personally think the VX-3 1.5-5X20mm is just about perfect on that rifle... but a little bit "more perfect" would be the VX-3 1.75-6X32mm "IF" you can find one.

What model is that ziess for $500?I have a $500 Ziess that’s better for hunting ( low light clarity) than a $1000 Leupold I own .
