The 783 rifles produce some amazing groups for such a cheap rifle.
This is the bore of a 783 in 223 that is very accurate. Going from memory right now but I shot a 5 shot group of I believe 0.335" at 100 yards sighting it in.

It has no right to be that accurate with a bore like this.

This was with my 783 in 308 with Federal Nontypical 150gr. It is a three shot group. On this beautiful day.

This is from Accurate Shooter 22lr Ammo comparison.
https://www.accurateshooter.com/guns-of-week/22lr-rimfire-ammo-comparison-test/
Look at the pictured groups and notice that group #4 is more than 1/2 the size of the next smallest group (group #3)!!!
This happens all the time if you shot well and shot enough groups and explains most impossibly small groups.
(Some exceptional accuracy is also explained by the alignment of the moons which produces a "perfect" rifle, a perfect engine or a perfect computer CPU - the opposite is also true, the lemon car).
This is also why an aggregate of 5 5 shot groups give a true estimation of a rifle's accuracy.
I have a particularly accurate M700, a Classic model chambered in 300 Savage.
It generally shoots 3 shot at 100 into ½ moa or less with loads it prefers.
One time out at the range, I shot a 3 - shot group that measured .040" at 100.
That same day, it shot a 3 - shot group at 225 yards that measured .61".
Both these groups were witnessed. Always great to have a consistent performer.
Dave.
I personally never shoot the Bullseye when I'm shooting groups at the range so I can still line up properly with my reticle after the first shot.
