The Mountain Hunting Thread

All I can add is, it's all uphill, even when walking downhill. It will always rain right before you cross scree, and the sheep will walk around the corner juuuusssst before you're in range.

........but that's half the fun.

BTW, when having to cross a river/creek in Nov? Bush to see who walks across with kindling in their pocket to start a fire to dry off. Try to pick a htg partner that's terrible at bushing. ;)
 
Well i made it to BC and into the mountains. Not exactly hunting but i did carry a rifle and have a small game tag.

I didnt make it as far into the woods as i hoped. My buddy that came with me was really out of shape dispite looking fit. Really slowed us down and held us back. I dont think we got 10 kms off the road an where we tried to hike.

I would have been better off doing the hiking by my self and leaving him at camp.

But none the less i finally made it into the mountains from all the way over here in nova scotia.

It was an 18 day trip, 16,000 kms on the car.

Next trip there i for sure plan on getting A LOT farther into the woods and a lot farther up the mountains.

It was still an awesome trip and i cant believe there is people lucky enough to happen to live in BC. Wow.

These pics were taken in Telegraph Creek. Some you can really see the line the fire stopped on. These pics were taken on the of the 2 year anniversary of the fire.

What the heck, did not see that coming! I mean Angus used to spend a lot of effort here defending trophy hunting in Africa and guided for trophy grizzlies. Very bizzar change in attitude.

for sure and Angus seemed to always have a few spare spots, or openings for more 'income' i guess, it would be a tough gig to run an the upkeep for what return would be hard... something you would do for a handful of years then , peace out, so to speak.... as above..
selling to the "greenies" so to speak, well thats debatable, i guess they paid more than the outfitter?
 
Pure speculation but they way i see it is. It was a hard year financially, he was offered a large chunk of money, he can still guide canadains with a cheap piece of paper, he has all the gear still and has a family with kids at the age that need him around.

But i do hope he stays on here and posts more. he has changed a few of my opinions and made me rethink what type of rifles i keep in my safe as far as sporting rifles go.
