The T97 Thread!

Your picture shows a jam nut, not shims. With that set-up, thread on the jam nut, thread on the muzzle device and clock it where you want it. Then back out the jam nut till it snugs up tight to the muzzle device. Easiest way to get it done in my opinion. I'm not sure I am understanding where you are having the problem, no shims should be required with the setup I see. No offense intended, I may be mis-understanding the problem.

Jim

I see the half shim between the hider and the nut. Had the same issue with my first thread job at TSE way back and put a shim for alignment of the A2 birdcage. Overall I’d say he’s ok and makes the T97 shorter and more attractive I think. That Chinese flash hider looks very socialist if you ask me. :)

Sorry if this has already been answered:

I have a T97 Gen3. Does anyone have any suggestions for slings? Also, any reported issues with cross mags?

Thanks

There is a half shim in there if you look closely. Yes, this setup SHOULDN'T require shims (if the threading was done correctly) but it does. If I simply tighten the jam nut without the half shim I inserted, the muzzle device will be visibly misaligned with the barrel.

Cross mags do not work well at all in my Gen 2. However, nobody done extensive testing on these, and chinesium isn't known for consistent tolerances. So it could be issue with particular rifles and not the generations.

My gen 1’s don’t work with cross mags.

And my threading was like $225 or something

Welp, that's probably the difference between doing it on a lathe vs by hand die. Thus the issue with loose threads. You get what you pay for I suppose, but I wish they'd given me a choice.

Yeah this was for removing the barrel from the receiver, removing the flash hider, threading, install of the new one, and install of the barrel back into the receiver.

For all those panicking ove having to take the barrel out to thread it, stop.
Leave it on and use an annular cutter.
See video.
It is available from CNC warriors out of NC.(?)
They ship.

Anyone have any difficulties moving the charging handle to the left side of the rifle on the Gen3? Tried loosening the corresponding screw but it just won't budge.

I assume like the rest. The default gas setting is already over gassed with very strong ejection.

I had a local machine shop TIG down the #1 port and reproduce it smaller.
At first it failed to cycle, so I tweaked it with a dremel needle diamond bit and got it to place the spent casings about eight feet away instead of fifteen yards.

Does it actually cycle smoother or it only affected ejection velocity?
