I just really want even fixed charging handle options for the T97.ca upper.
I bought printed ones but they broke.
I don’t think they changes anything but I’ve heard people say they have...
I cannot confirm myself.
I think it's just a promo material that was carried over from Gen 2. The Gen 2 does have modified feeding ramps and magwell compared to Gen 1.

I have tried number of mags in my Gen 2, and found that only MFT 10 round mags didn't work with it. It would not fit into magwell at all.
These are working fine and drop free for sure:
-Magpul Gen 3
-Tapco
-Cross Industries coupled mag
-ASC LAR-15
Some others I don't actually own? Not sure brands.
Ironically the steel mag that came with it was also tight in the magwell.
The cross mags didn’t work well in either gen 1 T97 or an AR. Was really unfortunate because I was waiting for them for a long time.
My recommendation is always c products pistol mags. They are tight in gen 1 but a little sanding or a squeeze and they are great. If the gen 2 /3 is looser on the spine it’s probably great.
I’d rather a tight mag I can make work than a loose one... every issue I’ve had is from loose mags causing nose dives.
ShawnC6 can you ask your guy who threaded the muzzle for you how he did it? I want to know if it's possible to do it without lathe with just a die hand tools. The barrel's outer diameter is 9/16", which is pretty close to 1/2 not not quite. I'm not sure the die will fit on it without taking off material first.

So the stock one that come with it works pretty well. If anything I find the weight of my right hand against the mag prevents it from dropping. Just going to take time getting used with the 30 round mags.
Other ones I have tried
- stock 5 round mag from Windham Weaponry Inc. is like butter. Feels better than the stock one.
- CPD (c products) pistol mag (orange followers) won't fit into the mag well. I try and it's really tight. I tried two different ones and same result.
In all instances I haven't been able to try it with ammo or at the range.

Mag release is technically ambi on Type 97 since Gen 2. As in, it's not good but serviceable.
That said, the way Type 97 is laid out, you're meant to do reloads with your right (firing hand), just like the old comblock manuals for AK. Even though I was used to AR15, I switched for Type 97, and found it better/easier/more natural than trying to emulate AR15 manual of arms on it.
It already ejects under very sharp angle forward, like 45 degrees. I never even have to collect my brass, because it all shoots over the firing line like an armor piercing projectile.
Maybe you're trying to implement a face-stop rather than a brass deflector? I suppose that could work.
Yes hard stop and to protect against a random shell just in case. Are you a leftie? I'm looking for others experience on it. I do love the mag release button we have the easy side to work with (push button on chamber side) .
When I was trying to zero the irons with a brass catcher on. I noticed I was creeping forward in order to ghost out the ring and focus on the front post. Eventually One hits my lip and bounces back in with next round already in chamber. Brass catcher saved me from any cuts. This guard is to save my face from any mishaps. Have a holosun 510 on it right now. Not happy with the stock irons though it was shooting far to the right off paper. I have to max out the adjustment to the left next trip and prey it's enough. :/

No idea who actually did it. I just brought it into Calgary shooting center. They did it in a lathe though with the barrel out. 0.0625” over 1/2” sounds like a lot to me if the OD of 1/2-28 thread is actually a half inch....
I wouldn’t ram a die into it with that much excess myself. But I don’t know really.

Yeah that won't fit. You need to get it into a lathe to turn it down to the appropriate diameter before the die will even start cutting threads.
That actually doesn't look too bad. If I were to do this multiple times (to justify purchase of the tools) I'd likely do it myself after watching this.
That said, I did find a gunsmith to do it for me. Will post report once I get it back.
