I’m looking for a small restricted pistol. Currently I’m leaning towards the Glock 26.

What do you think?

Here’s some info I’ve dug up:

what for?

No particular reason. I just enjoy target shooting and would like to have a small collection of hand guns, and in that collection I would enjoy having a really small useable restricted pistol. I’m leaning toward a 9 mm or maybe a .45, since I already shoot these types of ammunition.

The M&P full size in 9 and 40 is only 7.5" long and 5.5" high.

My .40 was TINY compared to the H&K MK23 .45 that one of our members brought. Not just in length, but overall.

With both pistols side by side, one of the guys was convinced the M&P had to be prohibited.

yes M&P is pretty small for a full size gun...

Steyr M is even smaller, Taurus 24/7 is another 'compact full size gun'

FYI I voted for Norinco the only resonably priced gun on the list....

If you don't mind spending close to 2K, P7M8 is head and shoulders above the rest of the guns on your list. Get one while they are still available NIB.

I went with the G30 because the grip is a little more full sized, while still being a tiny gun.

The price of the G30 without night sights is $929.. to make the comparison between the G26/G30 more fair.

I voted for the Kimber (no surprise :D). Compact Stainless II (cost around $1K) :

My second choice would be the SIG Pro 2022 ($795.00 at TSE):

The glock 30 with legal barrel does not stick out as much as the glock 26.
If you want a gun with no 'stick out' barrel, consider the Sig version of the 1911 CCO, commander frame/barrel, officer slide. All the other compact
1911's like kimber and Wilson have a bit of stubby barrel, except the Wilson stealth, but that one is very expensive...almost $4K for light alloy frame.

Due to it's design, the P7M8 is short, and very slim. Cleaning it and replacing parts is more of a hassle, but it's a great gun. I like it so much I got 3!!!

So did I...Going to be one of my next purchases for sure. Forget about the G36 unless you have tiny hands. I held one and there was barely enough room on the grip for my ring finger. To boot, it only holds six in the magazine.

My second choice would be the P7. Heard nothing but good about them. The only thing that holds me back is the price...

I would go with the Kimber, I owned a P7M13 and the P7 pistols are not worth what the going rate is, unless you belive the hype they are not really any better than any other 9mm.

Wow! At $1775 I didn’t think that many people would choose the P7M8 as the small restricted pistol they would purchase.

For that price I could purchase a Glock 26 (with a 106 mm barrel), a used or surplus Beretta 92, TWO Norinco Tokarevs, and still have $100 left over.

Why is the P7M8 such a popular choice? Is it something that is going to appreciate in value?

Hi, this is my first post on CGN! I am fairly new in shooting and am going for my safety course on the 27th! I can't wait to get my license! Anyways, about the P7M8, is that handgun Prohibited or Restricted? Thanks, Brian

I’m also new shooting. Welcome to Canadian Gun Nutz!

I have been told that the P7M8 is classed as a restricted firearm.
