Is the M10x worth the money? What accuracy are you getting? Are there reliability issues. Compared to the Type 81 which would you buy?

I’ve been biting my tongue on potential m+m rants. Not wanting to sour dealer forums. I personally would never support that company. They’re shady and are businessmen above all and are only in Canada to siphon money from a niche market. The reliability reports and poor accuracy numbers are just the icing on the cake.
With surplus drying up and becoming more expensive, I’d probably avoid all of them. $2k for a t81 is a complete joke to me, but I guess it’s the new norm.
If it was me, I’d be reloading (probably progressively) .223 and shooting it out of one of the available 180 platforms.
I used to shoot a .223 vz58 and it was super reliable and accurate to boot. Optics were lame though.

I've heard it's not very accurate and they have had QC issues with the long handguard version. The short handguard version is the "upgraded" version.

I got a deal on the short handguard version that I couldn't pass up on. I'll report back when I get it in hand.

I do not own one, but I was thinking about buying one, as on paper it sounds and looks pretty good.

But then I did some research and unfortunatelly it seems like the M10x is a rather expensive boat anchor that is unsafe to the shooter and those around him (charging handles flying off, random full auto bursts etc..).
I wouldn't risk it, unless you have money to burn.

Full disclosure, I don't own one but I came close to picking up one. There are plenty of great reviews from Canadians and Americans alike, pretty much all of agree that the rifle is crap. From picky magazines, to soft primer sticks and the charging handle predisposed to flying away. You're much better off with T81 if you can find one at a reasonable price, hell a bubba'd SKS would be an excellent choice too over it.

garbage, worth maybe 600-700 dollars max, just for your collection and not to rely your life on
do not care about manufacturers or dealers of this garbage- do not be shy, if it is crap-say it
SKS and/or T81 are the best choices. VZ58 is out unfortunately
If I have to rely my life and run to the forest, I'd take this specific modification, actually zero mod:

I don't even think it would be worth the $600.
A rifle that in unsafe to use is worth zero (at least in my opinion)...even if you got it for free, it could actually cost you if you or those beside you get injured by flying parts from this poorly executed piece of garbage.

As other posters mentioned the 10x looked good on paper and had the features i was looking for. The price and lack of availability kept me from rushing out and buying one and boy am I grateful for the delay. Based on the reviews I've seen the QC issues are just not worth the price. The search continues.

I hope this thread, and several others on the topic, steers would-be buyers away. Junk is junk, even if it looks "cool". You are much better served with a nice condition SKS or a working T81, though the latter is ridiculously over-priced

It has steered me away already :) I'm not a big fan of self-disassembling guns. And if a 7.62x39 semi-auto gun can't shoot surplus, than what's the point?

Some alternatives.

Drill-less scope mount for Type 81 is coming later this year from TI. AK magazines modified can work in Type 81. Not the most accurate, but reportedly quite durable, and made to fire pooey Combloc ammo all day long.

After replacing crappy bolt retention pin if it is crappy, a 7.62x39 mm WS-MCR may do the trick. Haven't heard how they handle surplus yet, though. Also hard to come by, trickling out slowly. Can't take AK mags, but can use 10 round XCR pistol mags.

Good review. The ammo pickiness and problems with surplus seem consistent with what we've heard.

M10X manufacturers should really look at the new AKV-521 from Kalashnikov and just copy it.. or may be some Canadian company can start customizing these rifles and turn them into something usable.

I bought one its cool looking I was however quite disapointed that I paid in excess of 2gs on a rifle that I fired five times (Hornady Black approx $30 locally) when I first got it It failed to eject twice so I put the the other 15 rounds in my T81 and went home.

I have it for sale now In favor of a larger caliber precision rifle, with four T8's and ten sks I burn through alot of that ammo and I thought it would be a great addition to my collection. Which is where it will likely stay since smart people read these reveiws instead of reckless spontanious
purchases.
