Okay guys, I know that I am violating the heck out of my own "I don't do values" policy, but this one has me beat in more ways than one.

Asking for a friend, what is a fair market value today for this rifle?

It is a Midland Model 2100 in .30-'06 calibre and it has been hiding away for a lot of years. It has been fired exactly 2 rounds (at the Birmingham Proof House). The action is clearly serialled and the Bolt, which is a Springfield type, electro-pencilled to match. Both numbers match the number on the original factory box. The action is still a little rough because it hasn't been worked enough to slick it up. It is a brand-new 40-year-old sporting rifle in 100% condition with nice wood. It is, of course D&T but has never had a glass mounted.

Is there a market for this sort of thing? What would you expect to pay for one? Alternately, what would you sell one for? I am stumped!

Thanks for the help.

Google the Midland Model 2100 in .30-'06 then click on Gun owners of Canada web site - you will find some information

That is an interesting question.
I am certain there are a few new in the box Parker Hale's etc from the UK in Canada

These were PH's economy rifle.
Clever use of low cost available parts assembled on a cast receiver.
Don't have a catastrophic case failure with one. The cone nosed Springfield bolt is mated with a flat faced Mauser type barrel, and the case head hangs out in open air.
I suppose that one in fine condition might bring four or five hundred dollars, because most everything else costs more.
Scope bases can be problematic. Made to use PH bases and rings, I don't know if compatible Weaver bases are still available.

I bought a Midland in 30-06 with a scope for a whopping 150$. My guess is 400$ or so. While the Parker hale and midlands are great guns they never really bring top dollar. Parker's sometimes go For around 600$ and midlands are a couple hundred less. Main difference is action and stock. Good shooting guns but not a huge demand. That's my experience

In the economy of exchanges, this rifle is worth what a new 30-06 would cost at the gun store (or off a gun website). Its pluses are as important as its minuses, but what it is isn't as important as its utility.

As Tiriaq pointed out, they are definitely the economy rifle of the PH line.
Parts are virtually unobtainable and there are a few castings which will break. Values are consistent with what others have said.

Was trying to ID various Parker Hale bases (base blocks) that showed up in a bag full - apparently the A39 and A40 are the pair needed for the Midland 2100 - was found listed in a BSA? or Parker Hale? catalogue - not listed on the back of the normal "card". I do recall seeing these rifles for sale in the old Army and Navy store basement in Saskatoon - mid 1970's??

Friend had one in 30-06 with Bushnell scope mounted, Excellent condition. It took a long time to sell at $350.
Ejectors are breakable and unobtainium.

Sight bases can be found, not great rifles but IMHO this one is a 5-600$ rifle if new with the box.
These were sold by the truck load by Bell iirc. You could get the rifle, kwik site see thru sites a scope and gun case. I remember working on several back in the early 2000s that had rings for ph 1200s on them, rather than 2100s.

Parker Hale was assembling Mauser actionned sporting rifles using Spanish barreled actions and Italian stocks.
The Midland was an economy rifle.
It was based on surplus 03A3 bolts. These were advertised at the time in the US for as little as $2 each. The military safety was removed, and its hole plugged. A bit of work was done on the handle for scope clearance.
The receiver was designed to accept the Springfield bolt, a slightly modified Mauser type sporting barrel (longer shank), the PH adjustable trigger mechanism with a different sear, the PH diecast trigger guard, and a bolt stop unit with breakable ejector. The bottom of the receiver was contoured to fit the Mauser sporting stock being made by Sile in Italy. Often beechwood. I do not know where the receivers were cast. The design is clever, minimal finishing is required on the receiver, and available parts could be used.
No attempt was made to incorporate any sort of safety breeching. The receiver ring is wide open, the coned Springfield bolt approaches the Mauser style flat faced barrel. There are no internal collars, baffles, etc.

I owned one back in the 1970’s and honestly I would not trade a PH converted No 4 Lee Enfield for 10 Midlands.
PH made some very nice rifles but the Midland was not one of them.

I have hard time believing it would sell for more than $400.... new in the box or not, it's not a collectable rifle and pretty basic.
Like others here I had one and had a had time getting $350 for it in great shape, sat on gunshow table for more than a year.
