Anyone have a Stalking rifle to flaunt?

Here is a Kimber 84m stalking rifle build in 308.Very petite and super light .Made a slimmer stock open grip English style with a pancake cheek piece and express sights on the 21 inch IBI barrel .Talk about a handy little gun.

Picked up an item a short while back that fits into category at hand, especially for Blacktail here on the ;) 'wet coast' island. A model 95 Winchester in 303 Br.

I think everyone was so busy drooling over the pretty pictures that they completely glossed over what you just said: A Winchester 95 in .303? You don't run into one of those every day! Any chance of a photo or two?

A while back after the  photobucket screw up, I haven't yet made other arrangements. Also, as such, I haven't, yet' taken any photos of it yet either. Sorry.

Not to worry, it's still a very interesting rifle. Good catch.

The calibre is one I've always had a soft spot for. I started off on big game in my early teens with a Simpon-Sears sporterized Lee Enfield. Since that time, there's always been a 303 in the safe. Over the years my favorite has been the Jungle Carbine, of which I've had five or six. ;) A good Vancouver Island stalking rifle. The one I have now is the cleanest I've ever had with all the trimmings, sling, spare mag and bayonet with sheath. I picked up the model 95 for the odd logging slash :) 'walk about' for Blacktail.

Yes I would like it in 350 rigby or 9.3x74 provided it was of appropriate weight to keep recoil down, esp in the 9.3. Very classy. 1885 in 405 with 24 inch bbl and decelerator smashes you pretty good at over 8 lbs. with custom 400 grainers I figure it would be pretty stiff. Really a fan of medium bores, great power to recoil, esp with lighter bullets.

I like the 303 as it comes with a lot of history and yet is still a very usable cartridge here in Canada with the added bonus of lots of ammo and reloading kit. On top of that, I'm liking recoil less and less these days. :)

I kinda like that rifle, esp with the 24" bbl. Very nice!

A few things would put me off of that rifle, the partial ejection, the external/manual hammer and that ridiculously long barrel....

I actually really like the styling, but I'll stick with my Ruger No.1-A .303 Brit... hammerless, full ejection and the intelligent 22" barrel.

This is my sled dog, because it has a harness so nobody can say it's not a sled dog.

And this is my saddle horse, because it has a saddle, so nobody can say it's not a saddle horse.

The vet says the one's a cat and the other is a sheep but I identify them as stalking rifles...er, sled dog and saddle horse.

:)

Happy New Years!
