lets see your thick bush guns!

This one badly needs a re-do. The “cold blue” someone did before me ain’t cutting it. For me to park it, is the quickest solution.
I just ordered a Williams WGRS. No click, but slick. Is the one in your picture 20”? It looks well proportioned.

That is 20". I also have an 18.5" Carbine. The 20" is a better balanced rifle, esp with the rec. sight.

I've used both the WGRS and FP. The FP is more expensive and requires drilling, but it is a much better/sturdier sight than the WGRS. You will probably require a higher front sight for either one.

Thanks for the info. Was going for 18.5” but now you have me thinking 20”. I also anticipated needing a taller front sight so I ordered a fire sight with a bit more height. I hope it all works out.

I'm sorry to have upset you so much that you need to make fun of my nose. Was that you're youtube video? If so, maybe you can post another on how a one armed shooter handles a lever action in the field. I'd like to see that to help me with my obvious confusion.

You are right about me NOT being a tactical fighting knife expert. The position of his (your) knife seems to me to be counter intuitive to a fast removal from that sheath to make a quick kill on you opponent. Maybe you could help me with that as well.

I am happy that you like that rifle. It's probably a great seller and will be around for years.

I'm sure your nose is beautiful, :) I will post another video of how a 1 armed person operates a lever action in the future, although it isn't rocket science. I put the stock in my armpit pinch it with my arm work the lever then raise the rifle to the shooting position aim fire. As far as the knife, it is in the most optimal position as the tang of the knife sits against two locking tabs that need to be depressed by the thumb and forefinger as you draw the knife out of the sheath. Trying to do a cross draw works but not a efficiently or as quick.

I know that the rifle isn't popular with traditionalists and that's okay, I would have loved to have a Marlin Dark or a Henry X but the LOP on those rifles are too short for my application and that by no means makes them any less worthy.

this year I used a CZ527 carbine for hunting deer walking the forests in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. I loved the light weight and short barrel, might just become my go to. It has the sights of the synthetic model with a bedded wood stock. The irons are really nice. I got a doe with a 123 gr PRVI PSP. I'm thinking of sending a synthetic carbine in to Black Box Customs for cerakoting for when I get back to Vancouver Island, hunting the small blacktails in the rain.

I picked up a H&K SLB2000 in 9.3x62. It has a fairly short LOP, 20'' barrel, nice iron sights, 5rd mag and shoulders well. We'll see if it replaces the the 450 marlin stainless takedown BLR for bush duty back West.

Geez Louise.....

My light, handy brush gun is a Troy Pump-Action Rifle (PAR).chambered in .300 Blk with a 9" Barrel and a 1-8x Vortex optic. It fits perfectly across the front of the Handlebars on my Honda ATV, rapidly accessible for surprise, aggressive wildlife encounters. 10 rounds on tap for rapid fol-on shots ought to get the job done.

I am about to start a build of one of these. Starting with a Remington 760 pump in 30.06...plans include parkerizing, peep sight, synthetic stock, barrel shortened. We will see where it ends up.

Dilly,

where can you find a synthethic stock for the 7600? remington were offering it but since the collapse nowhere to be find.

Phil

I know! I thought I had a line on a forestock just to be told it was an "inventory error" and "we cant fulfil the order." I am told the 20ga 870 rear will work...I am still looking. Let me know if you find anything please.

My new brush gun should arrive soon

I had one of them, was a "dream" gun at the time.. Sold it after 3 months...although it was ergonomic I had long arms so it didn't really fit me well not to mention in the thick brush where I was it was nothing more than a peashooter as the bullets were too light and would never pound through things to go where I wanted them to go. Learned a lot more about ballistics... Went with a 45 70 for the thick bush, .308 and 7mm mag for thinner and more over/longer ranges.
Fun gun but since I didn't hunt coyotes much, 2 to $3,000 was too much to have for a coyote gun that I hardly used more than I did my 22s. However I'm just one person, lots of old them really enjoy them but I guess it's all for what you want them for.

May not be your cup of tea, but the knoxx stock sets that fit the 20ga 870s fit the 760/7600/750.

Yes KJ. Not my cup of tea, but I do appreciate the info. It is the forstock that is proving to be the big issue. They seem to be unobtanium right now. I have a nice wood set I would trade even for a synthetic one right now.

Stalking Rifle thread from the past. :)

My two current favorites. Both ideal for stalking through thick bush due to their compactness and excellent ergonomics

The Ruger GSR needs no introduction....:)

SBI 6.5 Grendel. Overall this rifle is about 27” with stock collapsed. Using side mounted flush cup sling swivels it's easy to carry this across the chest or swept to the side if you need it out of the way for climbing over obstacles. 12.5" International barrel makes it easy to maneuver in tight cover. Topped with an illuminated LPVO it can be fast as a red dot when on 1X or crank it up to 6X and use the reticle to make hits out to 300 if you get to a clearing.

A perfect stalking rifle.

Both great rifles, and fun shooters no doubt very effective on game. Just absolutely hideous to look at!
