zkw 465 new issues post #12 to 15 and photo bridge mount

Re the loose chamber; it may be hearsay, but I was told many of these were stabbed with a K-Hornet reamer because they were actually chambered in the 5.6x35R Veirling (22/35) cartridge which is slightly different than the Hornet.

Mine shoots very well with the S&B ammo and reloads with the 40gr V-Max. I've used it on Skunks, Coyotes, a Whitetail, a Wolf, and lots of milk jugs. I bought it out of the old paper Buy 'n Sell from an old guy that used it for shooting Beavers.

Still using PPU, its good with the soft point, not hollows... the scope is to get into the wild dogs i rekon.

Shimming the rear sight to correct loose sight is the cause of the shooting high as you effectively raised the height of the rear sight. Cutting the rear sight groove lower will correct, but,.....

yep thats right mate, i have the slightly deeper groove in mind but being the old brno,,,, hmmm?

I had an old Brno Skeleton mount very similar to that. I found out Leupold QD rings have a stud sticking out the bottom that is the same size as the hole in the base. I had had a gunsmith drill and tap the underside of Leupold QD rings to fit that screw. He milled flats on the one that has the windage adjustment screws. And Voila! modern rings on a vintage rifle, and base. AND they all look like they match.
 
I think that your Brno will have a 16 mm dovetail, thus a CZ 527 mounting system should work.
Lynx mounts ( Australia) make a mount 1918H. For the 527/ fox model Brno.
Perhaps give them a call, or see if a set of 527 mounts can be tried.
It's likely much easier to get a functional set of 1" mounts and scope, than working with the syste you've got and a 7/8 scope.
 
I had a Sako .22 Hornet with a .223 groove that patterned .224 bullets.Your rifle may have also ,You could drive a pulled .22 lr slug through the bore and measure it.Fatten it up a little first as it will be a wee bit small .2225 Don't lose the magazine I hear they are difficult to replace.Gun should be 1-16" twist.
 
WhelanLad, What you have there is a mount that goes with a 3x Power Meopta scope that came as a factory option when the rifle was bought new.
The two side screws are to provide windage adjustment as the Meopta only had a elevation turret.
the scopes larger ocular end came off with two screws so the rear ring could be slide onto the 25mm tube and then reassembled. The windage adjustment moved the rear section, so the first photo you have , the scope mount is backwards on your rifle. Obviously finding one of these scopes is going to be very difficult....

Absolutely, Meopta scope mount for a BRNO 456 / Fox.
I have a complete set up on 527 22hornet FS.
Love how well built these old mounts are!
Also have a complete st on my BRNO 456, original equipment from manufacturer!

There is someone always looking for old BRNO scope mounts, won't be hard to sell!

On the loss of accuracy, I would try to find more of the same ammo that shot well, stock upon it! First to check the action screws haven't loosened up!

I experienced this with one BRNO 465 I had, I was key holing 40gr V Max through it; the bullet was too long (067") for the slow twist. I tried the Nosler Varmageddon 40gr and it shot like a laser over 12.5 grains Lil Gun powder.

Factory Winchester was nice in that rifle I had. I would try a different ammo before modding the original sights.
