Whats THE Ruger No.1 You Just Gotta Have?

No its 20", Catinthehat, didn't believe either, till he fondled it.
I am very chuffed with it.

I would be curious what run that came from??? For curiosity, would you consider PMing the first five digits of the serial number? The .44 Mag walnut/blued and a few of the stainless large bore rifles were done with 20" barrels, I am not aware of any runs of the .30-30 with a 20" barrel... are you measuring to the front of the receiver? You should be measuring to the breach face for barrel length.

That 30/30 a great little carbine, and yes Hoyt it is in fact a 20" barrel!

Me too, it's the only one I have ever seen or even heard of with a 20" barrel!

Not sure where he purchased it, but could it have been shortened, post production? The front sight band could have been reamed out and reinstalled...

No, not that i've seen, however, with Ruger, you never really know what might be out there!! They have done some tiny runs of slight variations before.

I have three or four Ruger oddball rifles, both M77's and No.1's... and I have seen some that others here swear don't exist, even though I held them in my hands and examined them for myself... so a 20" No.1-A .30-30 is not shocking but very unusual... any No.1 fan might guess at what would make it so interesting to me...

Has anyone else noticed that EPPS has had quite a few new No. 1s lately? Last Monday I saw 4 No. 1 S medium sporters in 9.3x74R NEW for $1748. Quite a drop from most of the other new ones listed, probably new old stock since I don't think that caliber is a 2020 release. As of this moment only one left!
