Any hi-tell masters here? I’m trying it out over my regular powder coating, just because I can’t leave well enough alone!

The issue I’m having is after the first, second, third even fourth coat I tried. It scrapes off with my finger nail fairly easily! The bullets have a large lube groove, and isn't always fully coated.

I’m Baking for 10min in a 400 oven, checked with thermometer, cooling and drying each coat before baking. They all pass the acetone and smash test. I’m mixing the powder and acetone as per the instructions from hi tek. 309 gr powder to 100ml acetone. Drying for a hour in between coats, and letting each tray cool to room temp before coating!

I’m getting minor leading in my barrel,9mm, After 100 rounds.

Any tricks that might help?

Ya, switch to Emerald Coatings *Tool Blue* or their *clearcoat* powder.

Tool blue works every time, no nasty chemicals to use or extras to buy. Use ElvisAmmo’s powder coat method: heat you castings until they are just hot enough to hold in your hand. Not warm but not too hot to drop. (my process) add your castings to a small plastic buck, like the Remington “Bucket-o-Bullets.” Or maybe a yogurt container. Add about 75-90 9mm bullets. Add a tablespoon of Tool Blue powder.
Swirl for 30 seconds to a minute. Place your bullets on parchment paper on a toaster oven tray. Not in a clump but try to keep most from touching.
Heat @ 375F for 12-14 minutes. Allow to cool. Size to .357 & reload.

Thanks for responding, but the powder coating method I’m fine with,LTE at using the same powders. I’ve done 100k plus with no issues so far. It’s the hi-tek coating I’m asking about

Thats a real head scratcher, not something I've ever ran into.

Giving the mix enough time to fully activate? When I mix the solution I give at least an hour before coating with it.
