My My, how the tide has turned for the SKS...

i have a 54 izzy mint has a tula stock but the rest matching. really nice. going to buy a Chinese version today from tenda $369 to be my volume shooter. Funny i remember paying maybe $270 for the russian 12-13 years ago.

Did you hear about the poor bugger ice fishing and the gun slid down the hole?

well you did not heard what happen about the last accident in march last year the boat capsized while ice fishing and all those poor sks gine for good ... not as bad as the ones that did the trip on their own to mike in ab ...

Tenda was selling the Russian SKS for $269 just over a year ago. I snuck in just before the prices started to go up.

All i know i don't ever see the prices going back down so its always a good time to buy with these gun. Still did pretty good on the russian sks. not as good as the Izzy m38 i bought at the same time. :) or the svt-40. But no plan to ever sell... so someone will get lucky one day. Ha

1954 izzy (2008) import welded pin mag matching refurb. Stock force matched. shoots straight and is a looker

Not gonna lie, that one is way nicer than the one I bought. The stock on mine looks like it was given a quick once over on a belt sander. Still love it though.

Didn't watch it, title is enough. Edit - watched a bit and now decided that he is more the AK guy and will leave Simonov in the dust.... Watch and comment if you wish.

Is reloading 7.62-39 getting more common? At least for those looking to get better groups. Yes it is costly but interesting.

I did buy dies and components for when supply dries up or prices go up further.
My bulk stuff is corrosive so another benefit of reloading would be not having to clean so rigorously :)

I remember buying my first SKS about 10 years ago, a #s matching russian Tula, for $196. I love these old milsurps. Also had a SVT-40 and mosin nagant, boy do I wish I had kept that collection together!

When something like the SKS is common in Canada, it may be considered undesirable by some. The supply of the SKS in the USA has been very limited and a nice SKS in the USA will easily sell for over $1000US. When the Canadian supply dries up, (as it has) then the truth about the SKS becomes clear and Canadian value will match the USA, look to pay $1000+ for a nice SKS this year.

I suggest everyone buy one and hang on to the one you have. If you don't like the SKS, that's fine but it is a piece of cold war history and I think it is the most undervalued rifle in the market.

Primarily the reason for the massive increase in price in sks and all remaining semi autos was because of the gun ban, IMO. If we had our previous selection of semis to choose from they would still be around $300-350 in stock form.

Just received my Chinese sks from Tenda. I am very happy with what showed up. Seriously undervalued firearms. Yes the government safe adjustment program has helped with the value of these guns. I have always though that they were seriously a great buy when you look hard at the workings of one. I ordered a couple rear peep sights to see If I can get a little faster repeating sight picture with my slightly aging eyes. MAybe ill have to have a shoot off with my russain this weekend.

I love the relic job someone out on this type56 :) action seem new or refurbed and stock is just awesome. 1964 by serial #

My findings so far. Metal work is as good. Gas tube has a tighter tolerance fit. Not sure that's a positive. I love the stock the way it is. Nothing better than a worn in feel. No fear of a ding or three. Looks to be newer barreled action put in older stock.. or serious refurb on the metal (not a scratch)as far as I can tell. Bolt, carrier, receiver, mag all have different #s on them. Had very little cosmo on it. Its Interesting. Like!!
