My My, how the tide has turned for the SKS...

Tenda has some shooter grade SKS for a good price, less than $500 shipped.. I couldn't pass even though I have a T81

Neither side uses the SKS and sale of these rifles generates hard currency for somebody. I wonder where the source is for the Russian rifles. Last year I bought "Dominion" primers they were "made" in Bosnia! I suspect they are Tula primers out of Russia and the Bosnian reference is to get around Russian import restrictions but that is just a guess.

Many surplus items are stored in a neutral country to make them exempt from import restrictions for years and then are good to enter the country. Century Arms in the US does this all the time.

Gets serious. If the Ukrainians are in fact going to have any chance against the Russians I would hope they get modern rifles.. I suspect the Americans have supplied them with large amounts of ammunition. Pictures of the arms being unloaded have been all over the news. The Russians moved to the Ak47 for a reason. This is2022 not 1947.

There is enough 7.62x39 in the Ukraine already to last 10000 years. Probably the same for 5.45x39. I suspect they will arm secondary lines and home guard units with sks and AKs. The Ukraine does make a licensed version of the Tavor and a few striker fired pistols as well.

The SKS has been effective in a number of guerilla style wars. It wouldn’t be my first choice but keep in mind the Ukrainians remember the millions of murders Russia has committed on them and I bet if it was an SKS or a pitch fork they will fight to the last man. Much of canada, especially the bread basket farming land was built off the blood and sweat of Ukrainians.

Well certainly after the 1950's. Depends where on the prairies you are talking about. I worked in Alberta in four different farming areas. Germans, Norwegians, French, Ukrainians and United Kingdom were the early farmers of of that part of Western Canada along with a contingent of American Negros who developed Amber Valley. To suggest "Much" of the bread basket would be a bit of a stretch if you are talking "early".

There is a now a large bloc of Canadians from Ukrainian decent from an off shoot of the Ukrainian uprising in the mid 1950's and the resulting inflex of refugees to Canada. There is a reason Edmonton is called Edmonchuck or simply the 'chuck.

Hopefully, the Ukrainian Army will have access to a more modern rifle either from the Soviet Bloc or provided by NATO countries aka USA with AR style rifles.

There should be some Cdn Vets on here who would have first hand knowledge of what arms the Ukrainians have or are being provided.

ps the Ukrainians mostly sided with the Germans early on during WW11 hoping to see the end of the Russians. One would expect the Russians to have a somewhat jaundiced view of the Ukrainians when the tide turned. The German Army did nothing for their reputation when they raped and pillaged their way to and from the gates of Moscow.

With the latest shipment of /26\ Type 56s of 1979 vintage, hovering around $450-550, are these the best deals going? Or scour the EE for the OG Tulas? I got two of the latest batch Type 56s to accompany a 1950 Tula refurb. Thinking I need another Tula to even out the collection.

Go for it. He'll most of what we have is going to be legal wall hangers if C21 is passed. The Bill will either pass or die on the Order Paper with the call of an election. I don't see any meaningful changes coming from the village idiot and his band of clowns.
