This is an initial impression of the m10x short handguard vs the type 81.
Since I couldn't find an sks-d i bought a type 81 folder and an m10x short handguard.
If I were to see them side by side at a gun store the m10x would have been coming home with me.
Quality wise, fit and finish and ergonomics goes to the m10x hands down.
The m10x short handguard doesn't feel any heavier, even the stories of being nose heavier doesn't apply.
Seems like a lighter profile barrel over the initial release and even the charging handle is different than everything I've seen on internet, instead 0f pushing a button and popping it out you twist a knob, then push it in to pull it out.
The type 81 feels like it's $1000 cheaper. I will be accuracy and functionality testing both. I'm still not biased either way; however, everyone in my household that handled both gives the nod to the m10x.
I will update once I have the chance to shoot
