Np30 nickel

I like my NP-30NN a lot.

The frame/slide/bushing/barrel fit is excellent with almost no side play.

The sights are also pretty good.
The rear is a Novak style, and the front sight is quite a bit wider than the usual Norinco pimple.

The top of the slide has a integral raised rib, which is serrated .
The front sight is dove-tailed into the rib.

Not seen on the Marstar picture is the large Mag. release button.

Another point to consider, is that my NP-30NN differs from my NP-30 in that it is a series 80 style firing pin block. instead of the series 70 style of the NP-30 (and all other Norinco 1911s).

IMHO, a very shootable pistol.

I'll try to find time to take some pics.

Cheers.

Please do and hurry lol

When did you get it? I thought they only started selling them few days ago? Did Marstar have them in before?

Btw how's the trigger pull?

Wow. But I'd like to see real pix...

yeah the marstar pics are not ###y enough. The only thing I need to do with it once it comes in is get a FLGR (b/c it looks cool) and im gonna throw in a ISMI spring. Might get it smoothed if its real rough.

I cancelled my order of the 1911A1 when I saw they got these back

From what I understand there is some other mags that fit this gun. I think it was for a particular para ord gun.

I saw one of these on the EE with some ok pictures back in the summer, not there now.

Here are some real quick pics. Please excuse the crud on the front sight. I'll try for some properly lit pics later.

This pistol is from the last Marstar batch of these.
I got it as new here on the EE.

To Halger280HVMag:

Very nice looking gun! I'm looking at ordering one of these myself, but I've got a few questions for you...

1) How do you you find the trigger pull on the NP-30N? I hear the Norinco triggers are notoriously heavy. And what about trigger creep?

2) What's the deal with the 'slim' wraparound grip? Is it really that close to the profile of a single stack?

3) How's the nickel plating holding up?

4) Last, anything else you'd want to do in the way of customizing?

For the price, this gun has pretty much everything I would have added onto a stock 1911A1 (I'm a lefty shooter, so the ambi-safety is a big one), and while my hands arn't small, the extended slide release is a nice touch.

On one last note, I've heard from numerous sources that the mags are proprietary, so if you want extras, you're stuck buying NP-30 mags. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks for the pics, it looks great!

I like this model, but it seems to be a hybrid of their Police Model and the 30. I wish John would bring in this Police Model:

I also always liked the plated 1911A1 from the 80s. I see the plated 30 still has the gross wrap around grips. I will give them credit for the better sights though.

FWIW, I hear that CZ-97 likely fit, but I'm not positive.

TRI GUN; "I am waiting for the pics too!"

DECKARD; "Wow. But I'd like to see real pix..."

What do you think the pictures on our site are if not "real" ?

TO ALL INTERESTED;
We are quickly running out of these, do not delay if you intend ordering one
John

1) The trigger is about the same as most other unrefined 1911s.
With a bit of smoothing and without touching sear or hammer hooks, I was able to bring the pull down to a very reasonable 5Lbs.
I'm sure that Gunnar at Armco could sweeten it to anyone's satisfaction.:)

2) The warp-around grips are a little thick for me and will be replaced by thin panels without the front wrap.

3) I'll post again in a few years.:D

4) I am going to drill and tap the trigger for a stop.

The mags are 35 bucks, I have paid more than that for 1911 mags in .38 Special from Colt and others.

Cheers Eh!

Halger would you mind saying how much you paid for it used? just wondering about the resale value.

I am kinda on the fance here...I've been waiting for Taurus stainless 1911 which was supposed to be out this year, but he release was delayed for after the shot show '08 :( Which made me take a good look at this gun (was thinking I'll get the NP30N and when PT1911 comes out I'll selt the Norc' and get the PT1911)... That gun looks pretty good for a Norinco (no offence) but I would much preffer a 'regular' 1911 that can use any 1911 mags.. Kinda hate the 'made in china' and 'exported by norinco' markings and huge serial humber on the slide, wish it said 1911 somewhere (preferably instead of NP30).... after taxes/shipping it will be $525 so not really THAT cheap....

Why not get a $325 1911-A1 ?

I particularly like that. It's a stament that says 'I could not give a #### about what others think'. It makes me happy:)

My NP30 say's M1911 P10. 45 ACP on the slide. Maybe it's an older one ?

johnone

Any idea when are you going to start shipping ?

It crossed my mind, but I preffer stainless so I was thinking of getting it nickel plated and replacing the hammer, beavertail and trigger with nicer parts...than I saw the NP-30N and though "That's exactly what I want!" - almost ordered one on Friday!...but made myself take some time and think it thu (figured they should still be 'there' on Monday). Now I'm not too sure what to do...hmm

I particularly like that. It's a stament that says 'I could not give a f**k about what others think'. It makes me happy:)
I know what you mean, (Taurus fan :D), the problem is it kinda bothers me... :-/

I have come to the conclusion that the problem is you, not the pistol.

By the time you had finished messing about with it you will have spent as much or more than buying an expensive pistol, but it would be worth less than it was before you started.

Stop farting about, buy a Nork and shoot the #### out of it.

I'm guessing you don't own a higher quality gun than Norinco, if you did you'd understand...

That's why I don't own a Norinco 1911-A1...
